No matter who rules, crimson reigns.
The king is dead, and a void now sits at the heart of the monarchy. Ivan ended the Preus family's coup and disabled the government's surveillance cameras, but his identity was revealed in the process. Now, he must pay for the sins of Coyote, as Julia mourns the loss of her father.
With the militia in shambles, thousands of Reds being hauled off to die in work camps, and a new, brutal force rising in the heart of the city, the situation in St. Paul is dire.
Can Ivan and Julia find a way to pick up the pieces and save Northern Mississippi, or will they watch as the country descends into chaos?
Ivan's story continues in this action packed sequel to The Fractured Prism.

Ian & Julia are people who to be a part of your circle. =) They are totally real to their characters and I'm loving them more with each page. Delaware & Alex are awesome as well. :-)
The growing world building is nice & scary. I've walked on ice that's been thin before & my heart felt all the doubt and fear with them. :-o
The narrator is a perfect fit for the story. Ahhh, the ending… let me put it this way, ya better have book 3 ready to hand!! Huge awesome clìff hanger. :-D So if you don't mind, I'm opening my book right now cause I just can't wait. 8-)
My star ratings include these 5 elements:
1★ story line
1★ engaging characters
1★ use of world building/descriptions
1★ the ending
1★ narration or editing
"I was given this free review copy/audiobook at *MY* request and have voluntarily left this review."

If you haven't already listened to the audio then give it a good read and if you feel the need which i highly recommend to really enjoy then hey supporting the author is a big push for him, get the audio version also. lol no i'm not being paid to promote lmao. I just feel my effort and time even though reviewing this later than i expected was well worth my sleepless nights re-listening to Book 1 and then continuing onto Book 2.
eh honest remarks Um, I'm a little picky about narrators when it comes to male and female characters, at first maybe it'll sound like in poor taste of character voicing. Over time i think it's an honest 100% hitting the nail on the head due to the fact that the Whites or royalty are from a pompous line of individuals who live haughty lives. Suppose it takes a little getting use to but i can actually imagine the characters being themselves. As for red cast and other sub chars I'm loving their growth in the book and how much more their playing a part in the bigger picture. Also you're now seeing a bit more into the reality of what America has become and also what a few within or amongst the minority is willing to do to change let along fight for. Although i'd like to dump a bit more info about the book, I think it's only fair you read it and figure out what happens to Chayote after book 1..... Does he get executed ? Rescued? Or possibly Pardoned?
Overall I believe he did a great job polishing up and introducing the readers into a bit of the underlying story or if not the story a large scheme in the background for a fight to abolish a system which enslaved people to a color. And if you're Red and or a tier above then you're basically nothing.
Performance wise!!!! Damn i couldn't sleep with how each character played their part as the royalty fight for power, the Military/Military Police group fighting to over throw or remove the current royalty or others to exert their influence and dominance with the thorough control within that territory. Hint Hint* :D The Reds are stepping up their game and making a a come back to change who's boss. Honestly though are they any better in what they are doing to bring about change?
And for some reason "CRIMSON MUST REIGN" is stuck in my mind haha. I'm as excited and a bit pissed about the cliffhanger but that just comes from having to wait for the next book!!!! It's just that good.
Story has meat, direct continues if not a couple months after book 1's events. And it progresses smoothly IMO.
NB* I'm More of a zom-poc novel fan but I've come to enjoy and appreciate this new genre which Mr. Noble has introduced me to. Give the guy a chance by honestly reading his book or listening to it. You will always meet some novels with voice narrators whom may or may not do a solid for the characters but i definitely enjoyed it. I notice and I'm sure everyone is entitled to their opinions but this guy deserves an honest review. I almost get an old school red-dawn vibe from this book mixed in with espionage etc. I sure hope to continue to seeing where Isik and Julia go from here on out and preferably not see the princess get outed. I think Isik and the storyline needs her for further growth but then again Will he take up the mantle and be King along side his queen. READ BOOK 2 lol so we can all thirst to find out whats next in Book 3 when ever its out.
@ Mr Noble. Thanks again for taking time out to seek my humble and honest opinion. It's not everyday i as a fellow from far away can enjoy Audiobooks. It's a solid privilege. Keep it up and keep on making these stories as epic as you have been. Hurry up and make or get Book 3 and possibly 4 out. I'm a binge freak these days. No joke thank you and my apologies for the late review whenever you do notice. Life waits for no one. Awesome book!

As for the story, the transition between book one to two recap was reasonably done in a pretty natural and seamless way. It saying it was perfect, as it was clearly a recap of book 1, but it did not distract from the story.
However, I don’t remember book one talking about this being an alternative America, rather than a fractured and dystopian America. Certain elements that are brought up in this book make that clear, but feels random and forced into the book to emphasize it is. It the same America. It is fine if this is a alternative history, but it needs to be worked in more naturally from the start rather than just start talking about King Abraham Lincoln.
Crimson Reign, following in the footsteps of The Fractured Prism is to cliché. It pulls from many other books like Red Rising, just not as strong and intriguing. It doesn’t help that the dialogue between Ivan and the princess does not feel organic. There are plenty of Young Adult books that are written so anyone can read them, but this one is better left in the hands of the actual YA readers.
Reasonable sequel, but still not a strong story
