About this listen
A new PWF adventure series from Heloise Hull, the author of Making Midlife Magic. For those who like their rosé chilled and their demons hot!
The last time the police knocked on my door, I lost my husband. Now they’re back, and this time, it’s about my mother.
She’s fine, for now, but her mind is failing her fast and her body isn’t far behind. As usual, she refuses my help, so I reluctantly agree to visit her homeland one last time, a tiny village in Southern France. The healing waters of Lourdes are world-renown, and that's before I’ve infused them with my own magic. I’ve never forgiven myself for failing to save my husband. I won’t make the same mistake twice.
When we arrive, however, the holy sites have dried up and darkness stains the land. Strange demons lurk behind every corner, and not just my own. The secrets are piling up, and suddenly, my mother decides to clam up.
After a lifetime of avoidance, I have no choice but to finally embrace my mysterious heritage if I want to save my mother—and myself.
From the author of the Forty Is Fabulous books comes a new PWF magical midlife series. As with every Heloise Hull novel, Chasing Midlife Demons is a little snarky, a little epic, and always 100% fun. If you loved Italy, you're going to adore France!

Story
After finding my soon-to-be ex-husband together with my soon-to-be ex-assistant, I realize his "for better or for worse" didn't include my 40s. An extended vacation on a remote Italian island sounds like the perfect antidote to a midlife crisis - until I arrive. I'm expecting Chianti and pasta. What I get is a run-down bed-and-breakfast with the oldest Nonna in existence. There's something about this island. Something odd. Like how everyone keeps calling me Mamma or how I'm the first tourist in decades.

Story
I knew hot flashes were supposed to be hot, but I didn't expect flames. One day I'm in anger management, normalizing the cordial hate between me and my husband. The next, we're divorced, and he has taken both our house and the business we built together. I'm 40 years old and living above our empty restaurant, plotting my next move. And then the world around starts lighting up - literally catching on fire. I'm starting to think my defining characteristic may not be my snark or my cupcake-baking prowess, but spontaneous combustion.

Story is awesome!
I hate the artificial intelligence voice. It's terrible. Monotone and just ugh. I was so excited to see this book finally came out on audible but then the narrator AI sucks.

Story was great but...
I loved the story despite it starting off a bit slow for me. The AI narration is terrible. I would rather pay more for a book and hear a real person than the robotic sounds. It definitely takes away from delight in listening to an audio book. I will go on kindle to read the next book.

Not a fan of the narration. The story would be infinitely better with real person narrating

Don’t remember much about the story
This review is not about the author it is about the AI narrator. I read H.H. Forty is Fabulous series and enjoyed it so when I saw this book was free on audible I didn’t hesitate to add it to my library. As soon as I began listening I knew it was going to be background noise while I did house work. If I had paid for it I would have returned it. I’m almost done with it and realized I have almost no idea what I’ve heard. Going forward I will skip any AI books.
