About this listen
The world ends not with a bang but a hiss.
Since the Rise of Magic, soothsayer Journi McCutcheon has faced supernatural sycophants, dated zealous zombies, and battled possessed pediatricians, but when an eccentric client hires her to investigate haunted pickles, her day goes from weird to worse.
Only demonic dills are the least of her newly acquired problems.
What begins as a nuisance call ends in apocalypse when she stumbles across a mass grave and discovers that the cats therein aren't just dead--they're harbingers of extinction.
And magic is on the endangered species list.
To save her family and Deviants everywhere, she must set aside her feud with all things feline to end the threat.
Before it ends her.
Cat Me If You Can is the exciting prequel to Crazy Cat Lady, Gemma Thorne's number-one best-selling debut novel. Packed with quick wit, spell-slinging heroines, and cats, it's a new breed of urban fantasy.

Story
I'm one scrappy wizard. As someone with barely a flicker of magic, I've spent my life being mocked and surviving fights with bullies. But when my parents die in an accident, and I find myself responsible for our whole wizard house and family, I know my usual tactics aren't going to cut it. The situation veers from bad to catastrophic when my backstabbing cousin stages a coup and takes my family hostage. I barely manage to flee, but the only supernatural willing to help me is Killian Drake - the most feared vampire in the region.

Get the book, you're gonna have a blast!
What a fun, witty, delightful urban fantasy! Journi MuCutcheon is a "gurl" after my own heart, she has sharp teeth, and an even sharper tongue... and she's not afraid to use 'em! Armed with only a slingshot and ensorcelled marbles, she's ready to stop the impending apocalypse! Journi's really not foolish. She knows she can't do it alone, and so enlists the aid of her mother, her grandma, and a gun totin' glam cowgirl! And they're hilarious, what a team...
Lynn Norris' narration is the awesomesauce on this delicacy. So grab the book, and laugh out loud... who cares what the world thinks? 🤔
You're having a BLAST! 💥🤣

A Fabulous Listen
As the prequel to The Hissing Booth Chronicles, this gives us a pretty good idea of who Journi is as a character. We also get a chance to experience an abundance of wit and charm in addition to excellent descriptions. Literally busting out laughing in the first 10 minutes or so and at other times throughout. Journi's sleuthing had my attention the entire time. A very well written fabulous paranormal mystery!
The narrator does an excellent job bringing these characters to life and making this story amazing. The narrator fits this series and makes the story even more captivating.

What a fun listen for my trip back home!
This was a fun cozy mystery that falls well outside the scope of what I normally read/listen to. As my wife and I are both avid audiobook fans (and my wife an avid reader), my wife was a huge fan of this series. She and I routinely exchange story recommendations to listen to amongst ourselves. This was one of two titles she recommended to me and I am glad she did. I actually purchased the series, autographed, for my wife as a birthday gift for her since this is one of her favorite book series.
Needless to say, I am glad my wife recommended this as like I said up-front, this was a fun listen. I listened to it on my return from a business trip and it made the ride quite enjoyable. I found myself drawn to Journi's adventure right from the start and loved the cat tie-in. One part I was particularly fond of was the transformation that occurred later on in the story for the main antagonist.
On a side note, I too have an emotional attachment to coffee.
I would highly recommend this story for those looking for a fun tale. This is an easy 5/5 from someone who is generally a fan of sci-fi, post-apocalyptic, and space opera stories.

Cats and more cats
Journi was such an amazing character and this world was something I wanted to immerse myself in the entire time. The magic of this world was fascinating which made me want to know even more. I adored Journi and her family they were such quirky and zany people. The characters had such sass and spunk. Her reactions to cats was hilarious which made this story all the better. Journi and her friends and family fought so hard to keep the world safe. This was a fast paced story from the very start. The narrator had the perfect voices for each character which made the story even better. I want to know what will happen next for Journi and the cats. This is such a fun story which made me laugh through the entire listen.

Loved this book! Journie and her family have magical abilities that are used for good. But they're also snarky and fun! I love how Journie and her family interact with each other! But her grandma is a hoot! LOL I don't want to give spoilers, just suffice it to say, you will be hooked with the first page!

What a unique, funny and wonderful story!
A haunted pickle jar had my attention from the beginning. With a kick-butt heroine.
The author has a wonderful talent of creating a story that draws you in and keeps you hanging on to the very end. I found the story to be very entertaining and fun! I definitely recommend this book. I couldn’t stop listening to this book.
The narrator did an excellent job of distinguishing between the characters and I enjoyed listening to the book.

Which will do Journi in, an apocalypse or cats?
Reviewer: Teresa Fallen Angel
Summary:
This was a fascinating story about what happened to the world after the Rise of magic changed most people in different. A few were left without magical abilities to find their way in a new world. Journi comes form a magical family where her skills lie in soothsaying. Journi like many resist getting directly involves with the magical police, this leaves her trying to make a living on her own. That all changes when Journi stumbles on a large number of cats who were killed by magical means. This spirals out of control leading to a gun toting woman, her eccentric grandmother, and a possible apocalypse if she can’t unravel the mystery in time. Add to this normals bent on exterminating anyone who is magical giving the readers fast paced and intricate story.
This was an incredible audio-book that came alive for the reader as the narrator added a unique flare to every character.

magical thrill-ride quickie!
Did you listen to CRAZY CAT LADY? (If not, do yourself a solid.) That romp left me wanting more, and here it is: a prequel novella that introduces us to Journi, our indomitable and wisecracking goth (or goth-adjacent) soothsayer heroine making her way in a world full of magic since the Rise brought out magical talents, and beings, in eye-popping numbers and variety in her hometown of Columbus. Here, Journi's battling "Middling" (non-magical human) supremacists in a plot line that's hair-raisingly timely, redolent of our Charlottesville-tainted world but without direct political discourse. This is funny and hair-raising, sharp and scary (but not terribly so) — pretty much a PG-13 experience.
The delicious LYNN NORRIS reprises her narrator role in this series with unerring instincts for character and plot development, and razor-sharp comedic timing and inflection that always deliver and satisfy.
Get rrrrready to rrrrumble! (And giggle, and snort, and gasp). Enjoy!
