I haven't been in Ohia a day when Tiki the post office cat brings a prize to my doorstep—a piece of the woman who had the job before me. I'm thrust into the middle of a murder mystery, and if I don’t help solve it, I might be next. A fortune-telling general store owner, a hunky Hawaiian pilot, my cat Tiki, and a couple of well-meaning cops named Lei and Pono seem to want to help—but they're Auntie Pua supporters, and she'd be happy to see the last of me. This Hawaii village has more factions than a Mafia convention in Vegas, and I’m on my own tracking a killer with only a grumpy cat for backup.

Cute story, hated the “virtual Voice”
The story was not bad for a cozy mystery, but I hated the virtual voice narration. The inflection was consistently off, and commonly used words were mispronounced. It was very disruptive to the story.

AI Narrative
The AI narrative ruins what may have otherwise been a good story. It is so monotone that it is hard to follow which character is speaking.

The virtual voice was a negative
It was a good story but the virtual voice left a lot to be desired. There were several verbal mistakes and several poorly timed sentences.

Computer generated voice disliked.
The computer generated voice was stilted and sing song thus annoying. Even more annoying was the mispronunciation of Hawaiian words. I live on the island of Kauai and on numerous occasions I had to “translate” what was being said because of the pronunciation. The story was interesting and had many correct cultural aspects to it. If the rest of the books in this series are also computer voice generated, this will be my last book.

AI needs to learn correctly Hawaiian pronunciation.
Story is fun and entertaining but the AI voice mispronounced most of the Hawaiian names and expressions. It’s very hard to listen because of that.

this was fun!
I had started this on Kindle but never finished it - by the time I have time to read a book, I'm asleep on my feet... Yay! Audiobooks released! I truly think that if I hadn't been told they were a.i. narrative, I wouldn't have known. It's certainly not comparable to Sara Malia Hatfield, but definitely better than so many narrators that do other authors books. I love having the Audiobook option, so thank you very much. Kat is quirky and the relationships were fun. It was great to have Lei and Pono as part of this book. On to Small Island!!

AI wrecked a good story
I'v'e listened to Toby Neal's other series and loved them. This is my second to listen in the Paradise Crime Cozy Mysteries series. I'm enjoying the story, which is light and entertaining, but the narration is just plain awful.
My comment to Audible is this: I do hope that AI readers aren't the future of audio books. I presume it was done to save money. Well guess what? I'd rather pay the normal price and have a real reader, someone who can pronounce words correctly, especially the Hawaiian words.
Big mistake.

Colorful Characters
