About this listen

When English agent Gene Hawkins told his boss he'd forego his vacation to search for millionaire Dave Teller's prized missing stallion, he didn't know his retainer would include the attention of his boss's beautiful teenage daughter - or Teller's seldom sober wife. He also didn't know that a trail from London to New York to Las Vegas to California would lead eventually to murder.©1967 by Dick Frances (P)1995 by Blackstone Audiobooks Mystery Suspense Thriller & Suspense Traditional Detectives

My favorite Francis

I’m on an audible Dick Francis binge. I’ve listened to 7 in a row. Although I read many of his a few decades ago, they are all new to me now. They’ve all been delightful but this is my favorite, edgy, unexpected. Love the travels in the U. S. To places I’ve been. His character is quite different. Loved it all

Not up to his usual fare. To disturbing for me. The rest is here to meet the 15 word requirement.

So good! Excellent choice of narrator!

Very difficult to stop listening. An unusual Dick Francis, while resolved well, not exactly happy. Still worth my ( and yours if you like Dick Francis) listening time. Maybe don't start with this as your first book by this author? Although every one I have read or listened to has been excellent!

Another excellent Francis book & narration!

Wonderful book and plot. Again, you will never be disappointed with Dick &/or Felix Francis. Love everything about his books. Every book has a great narrator--always. Every story is different. This is a great twist as it encompasses travel, clinical depression, mystery, and as always, great characterization. With Francis, even the bad guys are interesting and usually liked even though they are the bad guy. That takes a lot of skill.

Dick Francis, Blood Sport

I love Dick Francis and miss him very much. I have read most of his books and was glad to come across one that I had not read. I will try to figure out if there are any more unread gems!

Intriguing!

Where does Blood Sport rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Up there with the other mysterys I have read!

Any additional comments?

Mr. Francis takes his knowledge of the sport and uses it to build great stories filled with mystery and intrigue.

Stands the test of time.

I like all the Dick Francis books but this one stands out. The right balance of all the key ingredients.

Where are the horses

Someone has been stealing expensive thoroughbred stallions. English agent Gene Hawkins volunteers to search for his boss's friend's missing horse. It takes him from England to America where the stallions have gone missing. The main character suffers from depression and is a running theme throughout. Looking for the horses takes Gene all over and gets him in several tight spots and you wonder how he's going to get out of them.

I might have given this five stars but there was one scene that was just too sad for me.

The narrator did a great job.
