In the midst of the Go-Go '90s, the culture of greed infused the MIT campus. A small blackjack club sprang up, dedicated to counting cards and beating the house at major casinos around the country. Semyon Dukach was known as the Darling of Las Vegas. A legend at age 21, this cocky hotshot was the biggest high roller to appear in Sin City in decades, a mathematical genius with a system the casinos had never seen before and couldn't stop, a system that has never been revealed until now; that has nothing to do with card counting, wasn't illegal, and was more powerful than anything that had been tried before.

outdated but highly valuable , & insightful
I was very reluctant to buy this book because of so many reviews
about this book being outdated but it's very insightful
the title is beat the dealer and that's exactly what it teaches and informs you on ...not only beating the dealer with counting but also detecting cheats , different methods of cheats and so forth
also gives you idea of how to maneuver in the casinos ....does and don'ts
although this is an old pioneer of literature on card counting most relics are usually useless but this my friend is a useful relic
and you must pay homage to one of the individuals who help legions beat the casinos
if you're serious about card counting no stone should be left unturned
but I will finish with this, .....this book is not necessary to become good in counting
learning
basic strategy
deck estimation
deviations
keeping the running count and true count conversation
along with proper betting is the key
so practice practice practice
literature like this and many others are just really good at keeping you motivated during down time and not becoming burnt out from training
good variance to you :)

Applied Statistics to the Max
This book applies statistics to the degree it disrupts the 100 years of rules in gambling houses and also inclides good stories. It is generous and feels authentic!

Gr8 book
this book is a great start for beginners or anyone that's trying to learn the game of 21. And wanting to understand it from a mathematical standpoint. I can't wait to use this out on online Blackjack and in the casinos.

Great Informative Book
Only one down side to audible book, you don't get to see the graphs and charts they continuously reference. As for as the book goes it was a very interesting and informative read that I recommend.

Stick to the Science, Thorp
Thorp was a mathematician, and did a great job bringing math-based Blackjack strategy to the mainstream. But this book could have been a LOT shorter. Instead of just sticking to the math, the majority of the book are his exploits in the casinos. And they are laughably ridiculous. They read like an 8-year-old writing himself into a spy novel. His descriptions of how casinos worked, how cheating techniques worked, how human beings work, etc. had zero basis in reality whatsoever. His ego was through the roof and really tarnishes this work.

Completely Outdatef
This book was written 60 years ago so the information is completely out of date. Also, because it is an audiobook, you can't see any of the tables they are constantly referring to. It was interesting as a history lesson in regard to how Black Jack used ro be played, but us useless if you want to learn the current game.

Most of the stories in this book are irrelevant in todays game
Most of the info is outdated it also references a ton of graphs for a audio book that is not feasible
