On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

A captivating paranormal tale- would recommend...
An Angel on Her Shoulder by Dan Alatorre and narrated by David Bosco is a captivating paranormal tale with religious undertones. It has a Supernatural-esque feel to it, so if you are a fan of that show, give this a try.
The narrator, David Bosco, was exceptional as usual! I’ve made it clear in previous reviews I am a fan of his narration and look forward to his future books and how he progresses as a narrator. David enunciates well and has an easy to follow pace. I highly recommend him.
What to expect: Doug and his family (wife Mallory & daughter Sophie) have odd/scary things happen to them at the same time every year (I won’t go into specifics due to spoilers). There is a creepiness to it, but not a jump out of your seat type. Friendships, family, the unknown, clairvoyance, religion, and general life events/outings are present throughout. The book has a slower build- stick with it and I doubt you will be disappointed. The story is told between the past and present time (I had no problems with the changing back and forth as it’s very clear when it changes).
Despite the religious aspect, it was not preachy. It may or may not have you thinking/questioning the “what ifs” that have happened in your life. I really enjoyed the parts when Doug was a kid (at times it added humor to the story). I wish some of the characters would have came along sooner (Tyree).
A couple things I didn’t care for:
1) The emotional annoying wife cliché. Maybe if she had some character development I’d feel different? Or played a larger role at the end? Whatever the reason, she didn’t sit well with me.
2) There were a couple parts I wish had a little more to them.
I would listen to another book if a sequel was in the works. Overall, I recommend, especially if you enjoy paranormal religious themes.
Parental guidance/trigger warnings: religion (Christianity, angels, demons), suicide of mother and her baby via train, voodoo, Hitler talk (killing him hypothetically via a game kids made up), kid sees murders or attempted murder, someone is injured from a automobile, adults drinking (not in excess). It’s possible I missed some as once I got into the story, it was difficult to remember to write stuff down.
Words: S-word x4, F-word x2, h3llx24, crap x9, damn x21.

Beautiful story
Beautifully written. At first I wasn’t sure about this book but 30 mins into it I was hooked. Things like to happen all the time but most people don’t recognize the signs. This may be a true story or it may be fiction but either way it makes one think, think about what may have happened in their past things that they never thought about before that may have been the direct result of an angel on their shoulder be it good or bad we all have a guardian angel.

Good Thriller
I love any horror, supernatural and ghost books and this is no exception, I really liked the last hour. I enjoyed the characters especially Tyree. It is about family (Doug, Mallory and Sophie) experiencing tragic horrors but then overcomes them, dark verse good angels. Seems both Doug and Sophie has them. The narration of the characters was good and chuckled couple times with the 3yr old. This is the first I have listened to by author. Recommend to anyone who enjoys the supernatural thrillers. A well balanced and well narrated paranormal tale
I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
This was a very good book. It was suspenseful, spooky with vivid descriptions to help you "see" the story very well. David Bosco did a fantastic job on bringing all the characters to life (even the child). The truly surprising part, for me, was the heart this story had. The author did a really good job of balancing the darkness with humor and heart, so it never became overwhelm. That is something I suspect is pretty difficult to do, because a lot of horror stories are just dark and spooky and don't care about balancing the good with the bad. For me, that is important and will bring me back for more. I hope this becomes a series.

Mysterious
An Angel on Her Shoulder is a mysterious, suspenseful, heartwarming with a touch of paranormal. This is my first time reading anything from author Dan Alatorre and I found the book to be phenomenal. I loved how the storyline and characters were being developed as the story went along. David Bosco was superb as the narrator he brought the story to life for me. Fantastic book
It’s been a long time since I have read a book that really keeps you wondering. I was caught up in the characters and not one in particular, however. I felt eager, confused, and darn right sure that Doug was going to clear up the matter of coincidence, or is it a supernatural entity that is following little Sophie, Doug’s four old daughter?
A series of near death events is calling Sophie out.
S**t just got real with the family and amidst a hurricane Doug must fight the fight of his life to save his family.
Dan, has written this story as if he had lived it himself. He is an awesome story teller for sure.
There were times he was talking about when he was a boy and now a man with his love for his friends and family and how life is precious.
This is a true feel good book for me even though I got choked up and nearly cried. I just love the message of family. I love supernatural stuff and had my fill of scary st and voodoo queens.
Rich, is the single word I’d use to describe this book. Rich, that’s it.

Interesting story, not the greatest execution.
I want to start by saying that the story was interesting and paced well enough that you want to stay with it til the end.
However, overall, it felt very milquetoast. The story takes place in Tampa, Florida but due to the production (the echoing dream / hallucination scenes), I kept seeing small town Mayberry.
The story was good but the catalysts that sent the characters into action did not seem powerful enough. Everything that happens felt very much like a coincidence but the characters derive that their daughter might possibly be possessed.
The Narrator did a good job although, it may have been his voice that made it feel like the story took place in a much smaller, more laid back community.

Great Supernatural Thriller
If bad things kept happening to your family at the same time every year, would you chalk it up to mere coincidence or something else? That's the dilemma facing Doug. Forced to consider the possibility that dark forces may be at work, Doug begins seeking out answers and comes to a frightening realization. His family is in danger and they're running out of time.
Just when the story was really getting good, I realized that it was already late at night. I kept thinking that I'd just listen to one more chapter and then go to bed. Well, that didn't quite work out because I stayed up until 3am, having to get to the ending. The suspense kept building to the thrilling climax and left me satisfied when I finished. There was no shortage of interesting characters along the way, both good and evil. The religious element was important to the plot but it was not done in an overly preachy way. This was great storytelling and I thoroughly enjoyed it. David Bosco's performance really brought the characters and story to life, adding to my enjoyment. I loved this supernatural thriller and would recommend it.

Thrilling, Thought Provoking, Supernatural
I found this book to be multi-faceted in the way a gem is. It was suspenseful, spooky, thrilling, thought provoking and had a supernatural element. Typically I listen to primarily romance books, so this was a little outside my typical genre. The story was well written and had many unexpected twists. I enjoyed the setting of Tampa, Florida and the hurricane. The imagery in the book was very well done. This review is not a synopsis of the book, but rather my opinion of it.
The narrator did an awesome performance with his distinguishable voices for the various characters. He added so much to the enjoyment of this listen.
