About this listen

The dean of academic affairs at a campus on the California coast is found dead with a bike chain around his neck. Circumstantial evidence points towards a lecturer, who is the union leader and the victim's antagonist. Captain Nick Fusco, the homicide detective assigned to the case, follows his gut feeling and steers away from the obvious suspect. An unexpected romance with an amateur sleuth adds further insights to his investigation and leads him to an unforeseen discovery: the unspoken class system of the academic world.

Will Fusco be able to solve the mystery and prevent a second murder?

There are few plot holes here but the characters are not compelling enough for me to really love or hate. I found myself a little indifferent to them all. They all speak in the same voice which is further tangled by the narrator. There were some spots where I thought a good editor would have been writing in red SHOW DON'T TELL! Overall I was captured enough to want the outcome but I think the ending could have been more compelling. The narrator is amateurish. he really needs to take some acting classes. His performance is distracting amidst an already mediocre story.

An okay story
