What holds a strong and loving marriage together? Lies and secrets in a novel of twisting psychological suspense by a New York Times bestselling author.

Los Angeles homicide detective Dinah Marino may have a complicated relationship with her family, but her psychiatrist husband, Joe, makes her feel safe, secure, and happy. She couldn’t want for a more loving or trusting man. But throughout their ten-year marriage, she’s been keeping a secret from him—a secret she’d take to the grave.

Dr. Joe Marino loves his wife more than anything in this world, but there are things he’s learned to keep close to the chest—including a few dead bodies. When a missing woman tied to his wife’s latest case is admitted to his hospital, doctor-patient confidentiality lands their marriage on some new and uneven ground.

As Dinah digs deeper into her case, tension works its way inside their picture-perfect home. Now the carefully constructed lies between them don’t just simply threaten the delicate balance of their marriage—they could kill.

I love at how this turned out to be nothing like I thought it would be.

AR Torre is a very good writer and the main female voice narrator was excellent.

AR Torre is great , as usual.

I didn’t enjoy the narrator but the story was great! I was actually shocked which I never am because I always guess the plot twist. This was a good one!

Plot was great! I didn’t guess it until the very end but definitely didn’t guess the last plot twist!

Okay I feel like every single book I read from this author is just wild. It’s a thrill ride from start to finish. This book has the craziest twists. You think what you figure out is a big deal but it’s not. My brain needs to just sit for a minute and absorb the crazy. Definitely recommend! The audio was well done and easy to follow. I listen on 2.85x and I had no problem with understanding the narrators or keeping up with the storyline.

This was insane. In a good way.

I have loved all of A.R. Torre’s psych thriller books and this was no exception. It starts out quick and leaves you wanting more- wanting to know what this couple is about and what will happen next. I finished it in less than 24 hours! This couple is crazy- both are lying to each other and they lie to everyone around them, both living a double life. It was exciting from beginning to end. Loved it!

Great book!

This book was far fetched ,so over the top in so many ways but the character Jessica was a trip . She was young ,fresh ,funny ,clueless, and ridiculous all in one . She wasn’t smart on the take ,very whiney but that made me actually laugh out loud a few times. Look I always like author A R Torre ,I loved that she created Jessica because her character saved this book but next time Ms Torre make the story more plausible and believable. But definitely keep including fun characters like Jessica because she was a hot mess bad ass trip and funny in the darkest of times.

Jessica saved the story and read ,thank goodness!

A. R Torre is known for her ability to turn a simple life into a complete and absolute: What has just happened? And this is exactly what she did.

A police detective will pair with a highly qualified psychiatrist to teach us a thing or two about how to have a perfect marriage.

Anything related with reviewing this book as I would normally do, it would give away parts of the plot and I have decided I will not do that as I would not want to spoil anything detail for the readers.

This is a thriller that reveals in every chapter a piece of their marriage and their activities together. It’s fast paced and having short chapters makes is even more exciting.

Torre has a touch when it comes to feeding you information about her characters. It’s more about the hunt than the mere shock of a plot twist. She does both.

I love how she built her characters and their relationship and how they both danced and planned every part of their lives together. Is that how true love looks like?

So many time I have read that love drives you crazy, that loving is madness and maybe this novel will make sense to that.
I don’t know if they’re mad: I adore Gomez and Morticia Addams.

So, who am I to judge?

What did I just read?

The narration was good, and I enjoyed how each key character had their own narrator. The story, however, was a bit confusing, slow, and so ridiculously far fetched. As in, it wasn’t even plausible. Hours of my life wasted that I’ll never get back. Oh well 🤷🏼‍♀️

So far fetched…..

The beginning was very intriguing and mysterious, but the second half falters. Married couple Joe, a psychiatrist, and Dinah, a police detective, are hiding secrets and up to no good. The setup in the first half is abandoned, and the story’s scope changes. Although I devoured the book to know what happens, the ending was meh.
