Yvonnià Houston was born and raised in California. She has been writing short stories and poetry for a number of years. Her writings reflect topics she can relate to. In the case of Do Tell Someone! when a number of friends--both male and female--confided their own accounts of sexual abuse, (in which they also never told anyone) she decided to capture those feelings, along with others gathered from research in this very touching book. Besides writing, she also enjoys reading and has undergone training to counsel victims who call the Rape Crisis Center to talk about their ordeal. She feels that it is very important to get it out and believes that no matter how torturing the experience may have been, each individual has the power within to overcome and to heal.
