Whitney is an insightful and compassionate author of educational books specializing in psychology, caregiving, parenting and healthcare. Born and raised in a small rural town as the eldest of three siblings, Whitney’s upbringing was shaped by a close-knit family and a love for the outdoors and family. Her mother, a dedicated nurse, and her father, a long-haul truck driver, instilled a deep respect for hard work and service to others. When her parents opened a special care home, Whitney learned firsthand the profound impact of compassionate care on people’s lives. At the tender age of 11, Whitney faced a tragic turning point when her father passed away in a water accident during a family vacation. This life-altering event sparked a lifelong interest in understanding the psychology of the mind and how to support those facing emotional and psychological challenges. Witnessing the grief of her widowed mother, orphaned siblings, and extended family, Whitney's resilience and determination to help others navigate their struggles is genuinely inspiring. After graduating high school with a deep interest in behavioural sciences, Whitney went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2008, with a focus on psychology, gerontology, and sociology. After spending a year working in early childhood development, she realized her desire to become a wife and mother, starting a family with her husband. This new chapter led Whitney to return to university, where she completed an Advanced Standing Nursing Program and graduated as a Registered Nurse (BNRN) in 2011. Whitney began her nursing career in medical-surgical units at a local hospital. She later transitioned to long-term care settings, where she found a passion for caring for elderly patients and those with complex diagnoses. Her experience in long-term care, both in hospital and nursing home environments, has inspired her to share the wealth of knowledge she has gained over the years. Whitney’s work as a nurse has allowed her to educate the public, caregivers, and healthcare professionals on essential topics, providing insights into advocacy, compassionate care, and the emotional challenges families and professionals face in caregiving roles. Now a mother of two young boys, Whitney continues to work in long-term care while pursuing her passion for writing. Through her books, she aims to offer personal and professional insights into healthcare, caregiving, and mental well-being. With a strong commitment to making healthcare resources more accessible and supportive, Whitney hopes to empower caregivers, health professionals, and families with the tools they need to provide the best care and emotional support possible. Above all, Whitney's deep love for her family and friends drives her ongoing mission to make a positive impact in the world through education, empathy, and advocacy. This personal connection fuels her dedication to her work and her commitment to improving the lives of others.
