Mark Beymer, a distinguished historian, urban studies scholar, and organizational development expert, debuted in fiction after an extensive career in academia, public service, and corporate leadership. Born and raised in Eugene, Oregon, Mark graduated with a B.A. in History from Northwest Nazarene University in 1964. That same year, he married Judy Anderson of Oakland, California, beginning a partnership that has spanned over six decades and includes three married daughters, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Following his undergraduate studies, Mark served as a U.S. Marine Corps officer, completing two combat tours in Vietnam and flying over 200 missions as a pilot. After his military service, he transitioned into the corporate sector and held pivotal roles in safety management and operations planning. Among his accomplishments, he authored the operational plan for Crowley Maritime’s 1975 Sealift to Prudhoe Bay, a critical initiative in supporting the Alaska Pipeline project. Mark’s academic achievements are equally impressive, including a Master of Religion from Warner Pacific College, an M.P.A., and a Ph.D. in Urban Studies from Portland State University. His career at NASA exemplifies his dedication to education and organizational excellence, culminating in his role as Chief of Training for NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C., before his retirement in 1995. Mark’s passion for teaching and mentorship led him to the classroom, where he taught undergraduate and graduate Organizational Development and Business Administration courses at Northwest Nazarene University and Montreat College. Later, he served as the Assistant Vice President for Construction, Research, and Administration at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. In addition to his professional achievements, Mark has made significant contributions to his community. He has chaired the Planning Board in Salisbury, North Carolina, and served on the boards of several non-profit organizations. A devout member of the United Methodist Church, Mark continues to play an active role in his local congregation. Now residing in Salisbury, North Carolina, Mark enjoys spending time with his family, engaging with his community, and exploring new creative pursuits. His transition to fiction writing marks the beginning of an exciting chapter in a life dedicated to learning, leadership, and service.
