Jason Allen-Paisant is an award-winning poet, writer, and scholar whose work explores Black aesthetics, memory, and the relationship between the body and the natural world. Born and raised in Jamaica, he is the author of THINKING WITH TREES and SELF-PORTRAIT AS OTHELLO, which won the 2023 T. S. Eliot Prize. His writing moves across poetry, creative writing, and criticism, often drawing on his experiences of migration, landscape, and language. He is Professor of Critical Theory and Creative Writing at the University of Manchester and is a Fellow of Columbia University’s Institute for Ideas and the Imagination. His latest book, THE POSSIBILITY OF TENDERNESS, continues his exploration of the sensual and spiritual pull of landscape, Black masculinity, emotional inheritance, vulnerability, radical intimacy with land and earth, and Black ecological thought and feeling.
