James Carl Meadows began life amongst the rugged ridges, cliffs, and valleys of Kentucky’s Red River Gorge, along the Sheltowee Trace. He grew strong and proud, nurtured by friends and family beneath the emerald canopy of the Daniel Boone National Forrest. He graduated from Morehead State University, where he fell in love with the writing of regional masters like Jesse Stuart. Once a man, degree in hand and wife by his side, he followed the rolling brown waters of the Licking River up to its confluence with the Ohio. Between the courses of those two ancient waterways, he found a place to settle down and bring the stories out of his imagination and onto the page. His writing reflects the storytelling traditions of his Scotch-Irish roots, flavored by other nationally known influences like Patrick Rothfuss, M. L. Wang, Brandon Sanderson, and more.
