Hello everyone! I’m DeShala Walker, a School Social Worker. Over the years, I’ve listened to many students share their experiences with scary events, particularly those involving unwanted touches. These conversations inspired me to write a children's book titled, 'Staying The Course: A story about trauma, healing, and finding a voice in the middle of the silence.' Written from personal experience and professional expertise, this book not only shares my story but also serves as a guide for children on how to cope with and talk about traumatic experiences. It reassures them that their feelings are valid and provides actionable advice on seeking help. If you’re a parent, educator, or someone who cares about supporting children through their tough times, this book could be a valuable resource. This book helps equip them with understanding and help them find their voice in challenging times. Most importantly, it encourages them to always report their experiences to a trusted adult at home or school.
