Trouble following
In the end, the idea of the story was intriguing and the eventual happy ever after was great, I had some trouble following the story. It was not so much the present/past presentation but that I had trouble understanding the connections of all the various events and characters.
I do feel the narrator did a great job.

Something in the way
I love when you come across a story that you haven’t read before and this is that something. The storyline is unique and quite interesting. While I think that some aspects should have been focused on more while others were focused on too much, it was overall a great and entertaining listen.
Engyn Mackenzie is a new narrator to me and I quite enjoyed the performance. I hope to see him on more projects in the future. There were just a few times where I felt the characters slipping and it was going more into just story telling but for the most part, it was awesome narrating and I loved it.

Solid good listen with a little hotness.
I was given this book in return for honest unbiased opinion. I enjoyed this story-line and honestly I found it to be not the same old kidnapp romance.. The narration was good as well. I will definitely check out more books by this author and narrator.

hmmm...I enjoyed this book...there was a storyline in there somewhere. There was a lot happening all at once.
Cole/Lily (Colt/Rose), were in love in another lifetime, they reconnect in a very bizarre way. There is still a really big connection between the 2 of them but can they move forward without someone getting hurt?
The book was short so its hard to leave much of a review without giving away too many spoilers.
So much happened so fast...if you are looking for a book that will keep you on your toes...then this is the book for you! Oh ya & if you like "hot" sex scenes...then you are in the right place!

I must say that this is another absolutely amazing book that was written by Teresa Mummert. This is an awesome story by an amazing writer. The story follows two people that met in school but lost touch throughout time. Two people that once loved each other but thought that they forever lost that love. Their lives lead two completely different ways. It is their reunion and flashbacks that pull you into the story but it is Teresa's words that make this a non stop read. I loved this book and could not stop reading it. I can not wait to read more of her books. I recommend this book to everyone who likes a great read by an amazing writer.

This was my first listen to the lit world of Teresa Mummert. Impressive storyline that could have benefitted by being longer than (under) 6 hours. There's just a skimming of time-lapse info, with no good explanation or recanting of why Colt got so involved in the dark world or what Lily's world has been for all those years. Also, I haven't figured out how "Safe Word" plays a big enough part in the book to earn the rank of "Title." Another pet peeve is a cover not matching and this one shows a woman in control with no hint of captivity. BUT... the story itself makes up for all of it as I was drawn deeper into their precarious and dangerous situation.
Although Engyn Mackenzie did a great job with inflection and emphasis, I prefer deeper, more gravely voices for darker stories like this.

Interesting Storyline, a bit slow however
Would you try another book from Teresa Mummert and/or Engyn Mackenzie?
I would listen to another book by both the author and narrator.
If you’ve listened to books by Teresa Mummert before, how does this one compare?
This was my first story by this author so I can't compare it to others of hers.
Have you listened to any of Engyn Mackenzie’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This was also my first performance of Engyn's. Overall the performance was pretty good. There was emotion in the performance and I didn't notice any mistakes.

Overall the storyline was different than most books that I purchase which was refreshing. The story was a little slow for the first half of the book so if you purchase it give it time as it does pick up and the story does get a better as it goes along. I wouldn't say all of the twists were that unexpected but some were unexpected and many listeners will be surprised. Overall I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to someone who likes a quicker listen.

Hmm… refreshing. An original and creative story-line that is different from any other book I have listened to in a while. It’s definitely not your average boy meets girl, HEA story. It's a darker, intense, edgy and twisted romance. Even if you've read the synopsis, this book is going to pull you in and take you on a entertaining and enjoyable roller-coaster ride your not expecting.
Keep your earbuds in…things get pretty hot & steamy.
The story is told between the past and present filling in the backstory and connection between Colton and Lily/Rose.
Colton is not your typical hero in any sense of the word. He's playing a dangerous game and Lily is his next target. He's going to have to make a choice that will come with a heavy price for both of them.
Warning…. the main character Lily was molested repeatedly by her stepfather. This may be a trigger for some listeners.
Engyn Mackenzie did a good job with the narration. This is the first time I have heard him narrate a book. Nice voice easy to listen to for long periods of time. Good character voices. Both male and female. There were a few times the narration didn't flow smoothly. He was able to make the characters, their emotions and the story to come to life. Overall very enjoyable.
