The Quran, a book which brings glad tidings to mankind along with divine admonition, stresses the importance of man's discovery of truth on both spiritual and intellectual planes. Every book has its objective, and the objective of the Quran is to make man aware of the Creation plan of God. The Noble Quran, literally meaning "the recitation", also romanized Qur'an or Koran, is the central religious text of Islam, which Muslims believe to be a revelation from Allah SWT (God). It is widely regarded as the finest work in classical Arabic literature. The Quran is divided into chapters (surah in Arabic), which are then divided into verses (ayah). The Noble Quran assumes familiarity with major narratives recounted in the biblical scriptures. It summarizes some, dwells at length on others, and, in some cases, presents alternative accounts and interpretations of events.

Surat al-Baqarah (The Cow) is the second surah of the Qur'an. It addresses a wide variety of topics, including law and the stories of Adam, Abraham and Moses, to name a few. "أمرٌ عجيب!! كيف لنا أن نعلم سبيلًا للسعادة والطمأنينة ونُصِّر على أن نغفله!؟ لماذا نتجاهل الصلاة مع علمنا أنها مصدر للسكينة والراحة؟ ما السبب أننا إلى الآن لسنا من المصلين؟؟ بحثت عن الأسباب ووقفت عند أهمها، وهو إنني كنت أعيش في عالم صنعته لنفسي يسمى "يومًا ما"، وأكثر الذين لا يصلون يعيشون داخل هذا العالم."

حاول طه حسين بأسلوب أدبي أن يكتب عن إحدى أخطر قضايا التاريخ الإسلامي وأكثرها حساسية، عن الفتنة الكبرى التي حصلت أيام عثمان رضي الله عنه، وامتدت آثارها إلى أيام علي رضي الله عنه، ومازال المسلمون يحصدون آثارها إلى الآن. ينظر طه حسين إلى هذه القضية، نظرة محايدة، فلا تصدر عن عاطفة أو هوى، ولا نظرةً تتأثر بالإيمان ولا الدين، بل هي نظرة مؤرخ يتجرد من العواطف والأهواء. ويحكي طه حسين عن هذه الفتنة في جزئين: الأول بعنوان:"الفتنة الكبرى: عثمان" والثاني: "الفتنة الكبرى: علي وبنوه".

يشتمل الكتاب على وصايا وأذكار وحكم ومواعظ رقيقة وقريبة بلغة صوفية عذبة يحبها الجميع، عن إطعام من استطعمك وذكر الله وترك المعاصي وكثير من جوانب الحياة وخلواتها.

كتاب جامع في التربية والأخلاق والتصوف والفقه والعقيدة ، وهو من أهم كتب المواعظ وأعظمها .

بإسلوبه الساحر و الروائي الرائع أنهى الشرقاوي الجزء الأول من هذا الكتاب الممتع باستتباب الخلافة لعلي بن ابي طالب رضي الله عنه عدا الشام التي استقل بها معاوية بن ابي سفيان والذي رفض البيعة لعليّ كخليفة للمسلمين مطالبًا بالقصاص من قتلة عثمان و لكنه في الحقيقة كان طامعا في الملك و الخلافة...!!
