About this listen

Season 3 launches on July 16th. In September 1992, 14-year-old Misty Copsey goes to the Washington State Fair with her best friend. Misty doesn’t make it home that night, and she is never seen again. Police initially deem her a runaway. Misty’s mom, Diana, insists they are wrong. Five months later, a search party finds a potential clue: a pair of jeans, socks and underwear crumpled along the side of a highway. Diana recognizes the jeans immediately, but the police are skeptical. More than 30 years later, through multiple investigations, no other trace of Misty has ever been found. How does a young girl disappear into thin air?And how could investigators fail to pursue leads that were right under their noses? In this captivating new series from ID, cold case investigator Sarah Cailean works through anonymous tips, interviews with Misty’s family and friends, police records, and media reports in an attempt to get to the bottom of whether Misty’s disappearance is the work of a serial killer or that of someone who knew Misty. Sarah won’t stop until she answers a question that’s haunted western Washington for more than three decades: Who Took Misty Copsey?

    Jan 25 2023
In November 1993, a veteran discovers the body of a woman on a dirt road near Interstate-10 in Mobile, Alabama. She’s nude, drained of blood, and decapitated. But despite the horrific nature of the murder, it garners little sympathy in the press and detectives fail to close the case. Over the course of 8 episodes, host Sarah Cailean recounts her three-year investigation into this unsolved and perplexing murder that seems to leave more questions than answers. With the full support of the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, she revisits the original investigation, digs up new evidence, and interviews new suspects - recording every step of the way. Cailean hopes to rectify the mistakes of the past and bring some answers to a family still struggling to make sense of what happened – and uncover just why it has been so hard to talk about.

I enjoyed the presentation of the facts, hearing the discussions as investigators brainstormed and debated the likelihood of the theories and different suspects. I am glad someone is talking about Amanda's mom, Rene, aka Maria. Every mother, sister, daughter, wife, girlfriend deserves to be treated as a human, deserves an investigation when the worst happens, regardless of their profession or life choices. I hope there is a resolution coming soon and that Amanda gets some form of closure. RIP, Rene Bergeron.
