  • Why Can't Wests Tigers Win the Big Events? And Galvin Back?
    Apr 22 2025

The name of this Wests Tigers Podcast edition is simply two questions, and we have plenty more!

Joel Helmes, Eddie Otto, Steve Stretton, and Garry Watson are on deck for this later-than-usual post-game edition of the pod.

As we know, Wests Tigers succumbed to the Eels on Monday afternoon.

That result leads us to some big questions that we try to answer, including:

    • When it comes to big events like this, why don't we often turn up as a team?
    • Should we play home games against the Eels at CommBank Stadium?
    • Did the club make some mistakes last week in regards to Lachlan Galvin?

There are plenty of other things that get discussed as well, including the lies and manipulation in the rugby league media.

What is stopping Jarome Luai from being more dominant in attack with the Wests Tigers?

And we run through all the 'One Word' submissions from our valued Wests Tigers Podcast Forum members.

Steve and Garry also let us know how the big Ambush event at Commbank stadium went, including info that came from guests Latu Fainu and Jeral Skelton.

It's a bit of a different version of the Wests Tigers Podcast this time around, and we hope you enjoy it.

  • Why Galvin Situation Could Make Wests Tigers and Eels Preview
    Apr 18 2025

The Lachlan Galvin saga has continued this week, leading to this bonus edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast.

After a strong debate after the story broke on Monday night, followed by more analysis by Eddie and the boys on Wednesday, we now have this third pod for the week.

We take a look at the press conferences held by Benji Marshall, then Wests Tigers' captains, Api Koroisau and Jarome Luai.

Joel, Garry, and Nick give their thoughts on what was said and why we're starting to see the potential positives of testing out the coach and players' responses to a situation like this.

Most importantly, comparing that response to what we have seen in the past from our club and playing group.

Is this going to be the issue that finally helps turn Wests Tigers into a more focused and battle-hardened team?

Let's make a statement against the Eels!

We then turn our attention to the big Monday afternoon clash with the Parramatta Eels at CommBank Stadium.

The Easter Monday fixture looks set to be a memorable encounter with the Wests Tigers no doubt out to tell the world they're bigger and better this year, with or without Galvin.

The stats show Wests Tigers should be firm favourites, and the Eels have also lost a few players in recent days, but they do welcome back Mitch Moses for the game.

We also look at the reshuffle of the Tiger's team, including the move to the halves for Adam Doueihi, and hopefully the remergence of Luai in Batman mode.

The return of experienced centre Brent Naden also draws our attention.

    Big guests at the Ambush.

Don't forget to get along to the free Ambush event before the game at CommBank, with two special guests ensuring it should be a memorable experience.

Jeral Skelton will be a guest, as will Latu Fainu, and Garry will get the chance to interview both injured Wests Tigers stars. What we hear from Latu should be of particular interest!

We hope you enjoy this bonus edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast!

  • Where To Now With the Lachlan Galvin Situation?
    Apr 16 2025

The Wests Tigers Podcast has had a bit of a reshuffle with regular programming put on hold this week.

That change is because of two different reasons: the boys don't play until Easter Monday, and then there's Lachlan Galvin.

After a debate on Monday night on the future of the 19-year-old half, where quite polar opposite opinions were aired, have things changed in the ensuing 48 hours?

In other words, is someone going to say on this podcast that, in fact, "Joel was right"?

You'll have to listen to this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast to find out.

    Who's on the show?

Eddie Otto is hosting and is joined by Steve Stretton, while Declan McCutcheon and Nick Hayes get a chance to have their first say on the Galvin saga.

Some of the questions the boys look at include the obvious one - where does this go from here?

If Galvin does get off at the next bus stop, who do we need to target as a replacement? Does that need to be someone to play in the halves?

And how will this affect our season? Could it even be a positive in regards to camaraderie among the playing group and a more settled offense on the field?

Don't forget to join everyone over on the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum to have your say!

A bit get for the Ambush!

How's this for a get? This Monday's Ambush fan event at CommBank Stadium will see man in waiting, Latu Fainu, join the boys for an interview.

Joined by fellow injured Wests Tigers star, Jeral Skelton, get along to that event to hear firsthand from Latu and find out his thoughts on his future alongside Jarome Luai in the Tigers' halves.

Attendance to the event is free and will take place at the CommBank Stadium Bar inside Gate B from 2:30 pm.

We hope you enjoy this rejigged mid-week pod, and we'll have a preview pod for the Eels game for you later in the week.

  • What To Do With Galvin and Tigers Beat Knights
    Apr 14 2025

The Wests Tigers Podcast is back with a post-victory edition of the pod.

But, when it looked like things were starting to turn our way as a club, out comes the Lachlan Galvin news.

In case you missed that news, Galvin has rejected any chance of allowing the Wests Tigers to negotiate a contract extension with him.

On this podcast edition, we discuss what to do with the 19-year-old, with opinions ranging from sacking him immediately to waiting and seeing what develops.

There's also debate around whether Galvin can still play under Benji Marshall if the stories about the young half not rating Benji's coaching skills.

And will he pick up his bat and ball and demand a release?

See what you make of our sometimes heated discussion on the youngster, and don't forget to share your opinion on the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum.

Yes, Wests Tigers got a victory!

The Wests Tigers managed to end a run of seven losses against the Newcastle Knights with a 20-4 victory on Sunday afternoon.

We run through all the 'One Word' submissions from the Forum, and take a look at what the sometimes scrappy win means for the season.

Some individual performances also come in for discussion, including Sunia Turuva, Sione Fainu, and Fonua Pole.

While Eddie Otto manages to find some big wraps for our ever-improving fullback, Jahream Bula.

There's also a look at the Wests Tigers' attack, and in particular, why we look so sleek on one edge, but clunky on the other.

And 'Richo's Meter' also gets a run with the guys giving their thoughts on whether our boys were Awful, Poor, Average, Good, or Great against the Novacastrians.

It's a post-victory edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast that doesn't run to the usual script, and we hope you enjoy it!

  • Tigers Prepped For Knights Revenge
    Apr 9 2025

Wests Tigers are out to break a seven-game losing streak against the Knights this weekend.

After succumbing to the Knights at Campbelltown Stadium by just two points in Round One, Wests Tigers travel to Newcastle on Sunday for revenge.

With a fully-fit team warmed up and ready to go, the Wests Tigers need to gain a vitally important two points and end that run out of outs against Newcastle.

On this mid-week edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Eddie is in the driver's seat and is joined by Garry, Steve, and Nick.

Naturally, there's a preview of the Knights game, with some interesting predictions for the Newcastle game thrown around.

    Back to School Time.

Eddie also connects with his inner school teacher and asks the boys to give their quarterly Wests Tigers report card.

After five weeks of football, how are the Wests Tigers tracking? Who has been our surprise player? Who has underwhelmed? What’s the best thing about the current side?

There's also a bit of internal judgement too, with Eddie locking horns with what he calls the “three fairies” of the Wests Tigers Podcast!

    The Future of Campbelltown Stadium?

The boys sink their teeth into Shane Richardson's strategy in regards to a potential $50 million upgrade of Campbelltown Stadium.

Threatening to pull games from the Macarthur region unless the local Council finds the funds for that upgrade, we forecast how this might all turn out.

Will the upgrade happen? And how crucial is it to the future of the Wests Tigers? Listen in for our take on this unfolding issue.

Nick takes on the role of Quiz Master again for Yioti's quiz, and there's a reminder about the Ambush event on this Sunday afternoon at Wests Ashfield.

We hope you enjoy the show and look forward to (hopefully) a post-victory edition of the pod on Monday morning.

And don't forget to leave your 'One Word' submissions on the Knights game in the live game thread on the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum.

    Apr 6 2025

Wests Tigers' effort would make any fan proud, but we fell short on Saturday night.

Taking on the high-flying Brisbane Broncos at Suncorp Stadium, the Wests Tigers succumbed 46-24 despite playing arguably some of our best football so far this season.

On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel is joined by Nick and Declan to analyze the Wests Tigers' performance.

Some of the key talking points include:

    • Physicality - how we're still not consistently winning the collision
    • Lachlan Galvin's short kicking game
    • The performance of Galvin and Latu Fainu
    • Luke Laulilii's first game for the season
    • The Terrell May V Payne Haas battle up front
    • What this side might be able to do with Skelton, Luai, and Samuela Fainu available

Naturally, there are all the 'One Word' submissions from members of the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum too.

Wests Tigers fans are a bit confused about how the team is performing?

We take a look at "Richo's Meter" to try and ascertain if the Tigers' performance was Awful, Poor, Average, Good, or Great.

There's some discussion too about Jahream Bula and his positioning in defense, and one podcast team member makes a big call in regards to comparisons with the Broncos number one.

And our attention towards forwards as well, with a look at the importance of this weekend's game against the Knights.

Speaking of the Knights, there are some reports their backrower Kai Pearce-Paul might be on our radar, we look at what the Englishman could potentially bring to our team.

And don't forget there's an Ambush event that you are warmly invited to this weekend at the Wests Ashfield Leagues Club. Come along and watch the Tigers claim win number three in good Wests Tigers company!

  • Wests Tigers Look To Tame Broncos in Brisbane
    Apr 2 2025

The mid-week edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast has warmed up and had last words from the coach!

Eddie Otto, Nick Hayes, and Garry Watson are ready to run out onto the podcast field...but there isn't much Wests Tigers news to discuss.

That means we've had to call in Artificial Intelligence (AI) to see what topics this 21st-century marvel produces for us.

What we do know is that the Tigers are sitting at two wins and two losses so far in season 2025, and Nick and Eddie share their thoughts on Sunday night's Warriors match.

    Roster Changes at Wests Tigers.

Also on the agenda (though not an AI suggestion) is the announcement by Wests Tigers of three roster changes.

The changes see Solomona Faataape upgraded to the NRL Top 30 squad, and one Wests Tigers Podcast member believes this move might have been strategic to make way for a young star.

While Izaac Tu’itupou and Krystian Mapapalangi are also joining the club on training contracts, both have limited NRL experience.

The boys give their thoughts on all that.

There's also a look at how the NRL's crackdown on accidental head-high tackles might affect the Tigers (as if it hasn't already!).

Under the microscope is a look at reports of a five-year, five-million-dollar contract offer on the table for Lachlan Galvin from our club.

And there's another Galvin that might be part of the package!

Beating the Broncos on the other side of the border.

Eddie, Garry, and Nick also preview the match against the Broncos on Saturday night at Suncorp Stadium.

Of particular interest for most Wests Tigers fans is the potential impact of youngsters Latu Fainu and Luke Laulilii.

And, lastly, Nick tests out his quiz master skills after being volunteered responsibility for Yioti's Quiz.

We'll see you on the other side of the Broncos game with hopefully a post-victory edition of the pod, and don't forget to lodge your 'One Word' submissions on the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum.

  • Warriors and Bunker End Wests Tigers Winning Run
    Mar 31 2025

Wests Tigers missed a chance to set a few things right, losing to the Warriors by 2 points.

Our boys were looking to end a seven-game run of outs against the New Zealand team, as well as score a much-needed home win at Campbelltown Stadium.

A win would have also given the club three straight victories, an achievement not seen around these parts in eight years!

But, it wasn't to be, with injuries, refereeing, and a fired-up Warriors side colluding to spoil the party.

    What's on the podcast?

On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast we bring you all the 'One Word' submissions from the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum.

As Steve says, many apt one-word descriptions of that game just aren't fit for broadcast on a classy pod like ours!

We take a deep dive into the 26-24 loss and look at the areas that cost us, the things that leave us worried, and the issues that continue to plague the team (someone say 'physicality'?).

But it isn't all doom and gloom as there were some signs that despite the loss, the Wests Tigers are trending in the right direction.

    Recruitment discussion also features.

Yes, we take a look at where things are at recruitment wise for the club, with the discussion centering around trying to strengthen the squad for the short and medium terms.

We have money to spend and places to fill, so what are the best moves to make at this point as we sit two wins and two losses and a growing list of injuries (and a suspension)?

And Garry and Steve give us a great wrap up of what sounds like a terrific Ambush event held before the Warriors game.

Injured centre Brent Naden was the special guest at the event and left the boys both very impressed, and with important news of his impending return to the field.

Despite not getting the two points, we hope you enjoy this big edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast!
