About this listen
U.S. and world news daily morning update for July 8th, 2025. We have seven quick updates for you.
#1 ICE decided to create a scene at MacArthur Park in Los Angeles Monday afternoon. They had large numbers on foot and also on horseback, walking through the park in a line with no clear, obvious mission. This, of course, brought out protesters, the mayor, and a bit of chaos. They left shortly after Mayor Karen Bass showed up. #2 Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spent Monday night having dinner at the white House. This is his third visit in six months. In typical fashion, Trump had the media there before the dinner to answer questions. Questions were asked about all topics, but included several on Israel. Netanyahu also nominated Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize and let him know during this moment. #3 The Texas flood has now claimed at least 104 lives. While this is a tragedy. A few stories are coming out of people saving lives. One person is Petty Officer Scott Ruskin. A US Coast Guard rescue swimmer, he was able to save 165 children. #4 Trump sent off a bunch of letters to several countries about future terrorists that they should expect. Japan and South Korea will get a 25% tariff. August 1st Malaysia, Kazakhstan, South Africa, Myanmar and Laos. Tariff rates will be as high as 40%. Later on the day. On Monday, he posted seven new letters to the leaders of Tunisia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Serbia, Cambodia and Thailand, putting the running total of 14 letters delivered on Monday. #5 The Justice Department is planning on deporting Kilmer Abrego Garcia if he's released from criminal custody pending his trial in Tennessee. He could be released as early as next week. information has been put out about his conditions while he was in El Salvador prison, known as CECOT Now let's move on to the world news. Let's move on to world news #1 The Israeli Defense Forces took a big hit yesterday, resulting in the deaths of five soldiers and 14 being injured, two of those in critical condition. They were on foot when they were hit with an explosive device. A second group came to the rescue and they were also attacked. Then a third group came and they were attacked several times in social media. Now, several times on social media, for those who follow me, I've spoken about the IDF's lack of spacing and how they react to attacks gives opportunities to create mass casualties. This could be one of those examples. This attack also happened within 500m of the northern fence in Gaza. #2 Israeli authorities have announced the seizure of 183 acres, or 74 hectares, of land, northeast of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank. the area has been declared state land since early 2023. Israel has seized a total of 6380 acres, or 2582 hectares of land, under the so-called state land designation. All right, that's it for this episode. Have a great day.
