About this listen

Tara presides over the Upstate's #1 all news/talk morning show every weekday on News/Talk 989 WORD.Tara's faithful listeners are affectionately known as "Tara-ists" because of their passion and participation in the show. Tara was named 2021 Best News Talk Show and Best overall Personality, AGAIN, by the South Carolina Broadcasters Association! Tara took home the same honors in 2018 and was also named 2016 "Personality of the Year!" In addition, Tara has also won over two dozen state and national journalism awards for column writing, news reporting and investigative reporting while working for three newspapers and writing for a variety of national publications. She won a first place reporting award from the North Carolina Press Association for an investigative series about the weaknesses in Charlotte's overburdened court system, which regularly let murderers off the hook with less than 15 years in prison. Due to her work, that system has been reformed. Tara is also a winner of the prestigious first place Green Eyeshade Award, a national award for column writing from The Society of Professional Journalists. Tara took to the airwaves about 15 years ago to do a radio show heard up and down the coast and fell in love with bypassing her editors to talk straight to the people. Tara hasn't stopped reporting, and still brings her investigative journalism to the show. Tara is a mom, wife and talk radio convert-- and weekday mornings she's live and local on News/Talk 989 WORD. Are you a "Tara-ist"? It's time to get captured!2024 © 2021 Audacy, Inc. Politics & Government

  • Full Show - America in Decline: Border Catastrophes, Vaccine Fallout, and the Collapse of National Pride
    Jul 3 2025
Today’s coverage reveals a nation grappling with profound crises on every front. Tara first unpacks the Biden administration’s alleged complicity in trafficking migrant children—placing thousands with unvetted, often criminal sponsors, dismantling Trump-era safeguards like DNA testing, and leaving tens of thousands of vulnerable minors unaccounted for. Next, she highlights a surge of peer-reviewed studies warning of severe, underreported harms linked to the COVID vaccines, including estimates of up to 600,000 deaths in the U.S. and long-term health impacts on teenagers. Simultaneously, Gallup polls expose an unprecedented collapse of patriotism among Democrats—just 36% now say they’re proud to be American—while party sympathies shift decisively toward Palestinians over Israel, fueling radical politics and primary victories for socialist candidates. Tara weaves these stories into a sobering narrative: institutions in freefall, media silence shielding systemic failures, and a growing segment of Americans losing faith in their own country.

  • H1: Debt, Deportations, and Defiance: Trump’s Economic Gamble and Border Showdown
    Jul 3 2025
In these two explosive segments, the hosts break down the high-stakes political and economic battles defining Trump’s presidency. First, they explore the “Big Beautiful Bill,” packed with sweeping measures—100% immediate expensing for factory construction, doubling health savings accounts, and $70 billion for deportations—that promise economic revival but carry the risk of record-breaking debt and runaway inflation if Trump can’t sustain 3% growth. Next, they tackle the crisis at the southern border, as a Democrat-appointed judge defies the Supreme Court to order the reopening of asylum entry, potentially inviting cartel criminals back into the country. Alongside surging ICE attacks and political pressure, the show also dives into the curious connections tying the prosecution of Diddy to the Comey family and their history of secretive investigations. From judicial overreach to economic brinkmanship, these episodes lay bare the clashes reshaping America’s future.

  • H2: Judicial Overreach and Nuclear Tensions: Courts vs. Trump and Iran’s Resilience
    Jul 3 2025
These discussions reveal two unfolding crises: First, liberal judges are issuing nationwide injunctions against Donald Trump’s border enforcement policies—directly defying Supreme Court rulings and raising the specter of a constitutional crisis as activist courts challenge executive authority. The hosts argue these rulings are designed to provoke Trump into defiance, fueling narratives that he is a “dictator” and stoking violence against ICE agents. Second, the spotlight shifts to Iran’s nuclear program, where despite high-profile bombings, key sites like Isfahan and Pickaxe Mountain remain largely intact, likely housing centrifuges and fissile material. With China deeply entwined in Iran’s nuclear ambitions and Trump relaxing oil sanctions, the danger of a revitalized weapons program looms. As legislation advances to arm Israel with B-2 bombers and bunker busters, the hosts warn the clock is ticking to prevent Iran from completing a nuclear weapon.
