As a child of the 70s and 80s listening to music was always a very physical experience but with the advent of digital media i kind of lost my passion for listening to music. Now that Apple Music has Lossless Audio and Spatial Audio and high-quality streaming is becoming more available, how do I learn how to love digital music and get my love for finding new music back? Apple has finally done it. They've jumped the shark entirely. They've never been the most consistent company out there, but now that they offer lossless audio to a user base that predominantly uses Apple products to listen to music, they've gone too far. Lossless audio is great, but when your audio products can't support your new lossless format you have completely lost the thread.

It seemed weird we need to have a month to recognize the importance of Mental Health in our lives, but since we do I thought I'd get in here to talk a little about my own mental health as an addict and a sufferer of GAD and long-term depression, but also the friends who have died and what I recognized in them that looked like me. Apple released a new iPhone, AirTags and new, redesigned iMac, and a new iPad Pro. They're all very impressive, but I'm not sure you should buy any of them.

In the past year or so I've realized we have 2 brains, a fast brain and a slow brain. The fast brain is great for getting things done and taking care of business, but the downside is its really hard to turn the fast brain off and cruise into slow brain. And technology, with its ready-made offerings of endless surface-level distractions doesn't help. So what is the slow brain? Slow brain is that place you go when in order to get the most out of an activity you have to pump the brakes and let your brain slow down to match pace with what you're doing. Reading, playing music, painting, meditating, taking a walk...anything that farces you to disengage from the info stream and concentrate on what you're doing.

I've gotten really bad at getting into slow brain activities over the past year or so and I think my relationship with my technology has a lot to do with it.
