  • Summary

  • Welcome to The Graphters' Podcast, an audio journey around the subject of CGI on industry and education. Join Gary and John, two possibly slightly jaded individuals who have both been involved in teaching and creating 3D stuff for the Commercial and Broadcast industry for over 20+ years. In the course of this podcast, both Gary and John ramble on a bit, chat about education, industry and the increasing role of open source software in the industry as well as, did I mention rambling?

    Mar 31 2025

    Welcome to The Graphters' Podcast!
Yes, Graphterers, it' a new instalment of the "Will John and Gary ever stop being irritiating" podcast.
It's a two-er this month, so just me and John, but we get a bit political as well as downright angry with a few things, and I had to bleep a lot of my stuff.
    We have:
What the f@#k is going on in the Creative world!?

Large canopy companies sprouting new super Indies

    Offsted and College news
Freelancing - what things you need to doAI - yes, I know, but I'm getting a bit concerned as it's not just a fad anymore.LinkedIn no longer being all it cracked up to be.Bits and BobsAnd...no biscuits!!
    Cheers

  • The Graphters Podcast - Episode 4.01 - We're Back!!! And we brought a guest! Andy Bishop co-owner of Lightwave3D!
    Feb 20 2025

    Welcome to The Graphters' Podcast!

Welcome back to the first episode of Season 4. Yep, we are very, very late with this, but stuff has been getting in the way, in exactly the way we said it wouldn’t. So we haven’t started well, but we will make up for it, deffo.

Today we have a very long podcast just under 1 hour and 30 minutes, but it was so good I found it hard to remove much. I did manage to reduce it by about 50 mins, and that was mostly me and John waffling on about work and Jaws…well just me talking about Jaws.

Today our guest is Andy Bishop, a stalwart of the animation industry who has worked on all sorts of wonderful stuff over the years and is now one of the owners of the 3D software, Lightwave3D. This might seem a bit like an advert in places, but I cannot tell you enough how wonderful he was to tell us all the things he did. I have had to edit out a few things just to be sure he’s not breaking his own NDAs!

This one includes a lot of stuff about Andy and very little else!

    Oh, he also likes biscuits.

And a small apology for my microphone making me sound like I’m in a liminal space…Wait..I can't find the door…help…help!!!

Speak soon, if I can get to the end of this corridor…

    .

    Cheers
