Meet Shaye Taylor—Special Olympics Ohio athlete, LGBTQ+ advocate, cashier, sister, speaker, and all-around force of nature.
Born and raised in Cleveland’s West Park neighborhood, Shaye has never fit into a box—and she’s never tried to. Whether she’s gliding across the ice in a figure skating routine or knocking down pins on the bowling lane, Shaye shows us what it means to lead with joy, resilience, and radical self-determination.
She shares this passion for sport and self-expression with her twin sister, Sharita—who’s also an athlete and advocate in her own right.
As a Good Life Ambassador for the Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Shaye uses her voice to break barriers and build bridges—championing both disability inclusion and LGBTQ+ visibility in a world that often tries to silence both.
Whether she’s behind a microphone or behind the register at Marc’s, one thing’s for sure: Shaye doesn’t just surpass labels—she shatters them.
