He was a Ranger-Qualified Aviation Officer and Artillery Officer, commanding organizations from the platoon to the battalion level. He holds a BS from the United States Military Academy, an MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School, an MBA from Northwestern Kellogg, an MA from Columbia University’s Teachers College, and a PhD and MPhil from Columbia University.
