  • Chris Lane | Friday Night Takeover
    Jun 23 2025

Chris Lane celebrated the release of his new album this Friday with Rob + Holly during the 'Friday Night Takeover,' talking about the writing on his new album, 'Shade Tree,' his ping pong skills, and more.

"It's probably been close to 4 years ago when I originally heard this song," Lane says of the standout song, "If I Die Before You."

"This is one of the songs on the record that I didn't write. I wrote 99% of them, but, this is one of those outside pitches I had heard, through a friend of mine in the industry, and when I heard it, I loved everything about it. I felt like, man, this is a perfect song for where I'm at in my life right now, relationship, all that kind of stuff."

"When I hit back on it, it was like, 'oops, I am so sorry. I did not mean to put that song in that folder because another artist,' who is an A-list artist in the top of the game right now, 'has the song hold,'" he reveals. "And I thought, 'oh man, that sucks.' But, you know, at the end of the day, I didn't write it, so there was nothing I could do about it. I essentially waited 3 years for this song, and I just said if it was meant to be for me to record it, it would eventually find its home with me and, and lo and behold, it did."

"It was just such a blessing, and every time my wife hears it, she cries her eyes out."

One of the powerful tracks Lane did write for Shade Tree is "What Am I Supposed To Tell The Dog," which has also caught the ear of fans across Country music. "That is by far one of my favorite songs I've ever written in my entire career," Chris says. "It's a very freaking sad song if you dive into the words of it, but it is kind of cheeky and meant to be, kind of funny in a way."

"If you dive into the lyrics of the song, it's kind of sad for the dog. Like you don't really care about the guy who's had his heart broke, but you feel bad for the dog who's like, 'where is this other person that I love so much?'"

  • Brett Young | Friday Night Takeover
    Jun 18 2025

From the joys of being a "girl dad" to handling the attention of female fans, Brett Young tackled it all with Rob + Holly during the Friday Night Takeover. The singer is just days away from his new album, '2.0,' arriving everywhere, and he tapped in to talk to the dynamic duo about it all.

Fresh off a busy trip to CMA Fest, Rob +Holly shared how packed Young's album release party at the Nashville Audacy Sound Space was, at full capacity with fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the singer. "The whole time I thought, 'I wonder what Brett's wife thinks about all this with all these girls?'" asks Holly. "Did she ever say anything about all this attention that you'll get from the females?"

"She's as level-headed and realistic as you can be about being the wife to somebody who gets as much attention as we do, being an artist in Country music," smiles Brett. "The one thing that has never changed from me playing little bars and restaurants in LA, cover gigs to now is like, it's not that she's worried anything would ever happen. She doesn't feel like she's like sharing me, but when she picks up on maybe somebody suffers from the delusion that they may have a chance or something may happen, and she sees that, bugs the crap out of her, like she wants to go say something."

After admitting there's a lot of eyerolls from his wife and daughters in his house, Rob asks "was there any eyerolls when she saw the shirtless album cover? Cause that's gonna attract the girls even more, man."

"Yeah, I don't know that that would have been her first choice for the album cover," Young says of the '2.0' art. "But you gotta do what you gotta do."

Shifting to his song, "Drink with You," Young reveals that he wrote the song "a little bit over 10 years ago in 2015," and that it was initially shelved because he felt it was best suited as a single and he was concerned about song overlap on previous albums. "The interesting thing for me is I finally put a song about drinking out almost a year and a half sober, so there's a little irony to that one." He elaborates, "I just wasn't serving me and I have young children, but still, I find it funny that we're talking about drinking and calling our ex, and I'm sober now."

  • Dierks Bentley | Friday Night Takeover
    Jun 9 2025

Rob + Holly recently joined Dierks Bentley to talk about his upcoming album, Broken Branches, how his hit "She Hates Me" came "out of thin air," and the good problem he has trying to find space for 22 number one songs in his setlist.

"I've been lucky enough to have a lot of number ones," Dierks humbly admits. "Just ultimately trying to take fans on a ride."

"We get to the hits pretty quick and kind of stay on them, and don't take our foot off the pedal ever because I want fans to have a great time for the moment they walk in until they leave. I don't want to play a 4 hour show. I could. I mean, in some ways, you know, in the past I have... but I feel like for the main show, like just try to pack in as much music as you can into like a 90 minute set because, people are tired. They've been there all day long. They bought a ticket, they've seen 3 bands, just give them what they came for and try to surprise them in some ways, but don't drag it out unnecessarily."
