We start a new tradition, a monthly rant. A sermon, speech or discussion about the world and how we can make it better. 17 year ago I attempted to start a new organization at 27 years old I had worked for a few non-profits and was idealistic still a little naive. Not only was I put through the ringer having worked for a refugee agency assisting HT victims but I had been an organizer for a union, a case manager at a detention center for immigrants but worked as a legal assistant at an immigration law firm. After all these experiences I was ready to take on the world by creating a ministry or non-profit that kept the vision of MLK alive. It’s name was A More Excellent Way a phrase used by him quoting the writings of the apostle Paul. 1 Corinthians 12:31 "Now eagerly desire the greater gifts. And yet I will show you the most excellent way." Reverend Doctor King is pointing to the Way of Love described by Paul as "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant..." connecting to the peaceful nature of the Jesus Movement and the Jewish concept of Chessed or loving-kindness which became a foundational component of the Civil Rights movement. This week, I came across the most ridiculous argument among progressives it is between Cenk Uger from The Young Turks, Sam Seder from The Majority Report and the always controversial Jimmy Dore anti-war comedian activist that I follow closely. Sam and the young lady he co-hosts with in their weekly show on YouTube were sharing "old gossip” about their interactions while part of the Young Turks. All this came about because they believe that Ana Casperian and Cenk are going right wing in an effort to get more viewers. There are many conspiracies from Sam and Jimmy that TYT is a front for the democratic party which attempts to behave in a liberal way to attract young people to the party and then always folds to the institutional party or the establishment narrative from the corporate donors when needed. According to Sam Seder TYT was one of the most popular shows on YouTube at one point and now it has turned into a clown show. Seder also attacks Jimmy Dore for some reason which I found unfair as he often calls out politicians from both sides of the political spectrum specially as People are dying, the world is getting worse. I would be the first to call him an "A Tool of the Antisemitic/Conspiratorial Left" but he actually speaks about the possibility of nuclear war, the deep state, the evil perpetrated by both parties and the need to fight for the poor. Although he has attempted to get single payer healthcare for all by pressuring Bernie Sanders, AOC and other candidates, he has turned into the mouthpiece of the radical anti-Israel section of the left by sharing his ontological disdain for Jews which comes from conspiracies and his mostly Roman Catholic upbringing. Although politics are messy I believe we can overcome this confusion through steering back the peace movement to a Spiritual Consciousness found in MLK writings.

My Dear Fellow Clergymen:
While confined here in the Birmingham city jail, I came across your recent statement calling my present activities "unwise and untimely." Seldom do I pause to answer criticism of my work and ideas. If I sought to answer all the criticisms that cross my desk, my secretaries would have little time for anything other than such correspondence in the course of the day, and I would have no time for constructive work. But since I feel that you are men of genuine good will and that your criticisms are sincerely set forth, I want to try to answer your statement in what I hope will be patient and reasonable terms.I think I should indicate why I am here in Birmingham, since you have been influenced by the view which argues against "outsiders coming in." I have the honor of serving as president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, an organization operating in every southern state, with headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. We have some eighty five affiliated organizations across the South, and one of them is the Alabama Christian Movement for Human Rights. Frequently we share staff, educational and financial resources with our affiliates. Several months ago the affiliate here in Birmingham asked us to be on call to engage in a nonviolent direct action program if such were deemed necessary. We readily consented, and when the hour came we lived up to our promise. So I, along with several members of my staff, am here because I was invited here. I am here because I have organizational ties here.But more basically, I am in Birmingham because injustice is here. Just as the prophets of the eighth century B.C. left their villages and carried their "thus saith the Lord" far beyond the boundaries of their home towns, and just as the Apostle Paul left his village of Tarsus and carried the gospel of Jesus Christ to the far corners of the Greco Roman world, so am I compelled to carry the gospel of freedom beyond my own home town. Like Paul, I must constantly respond to the Macedonian call for aid.Moreover, I am cognizant of the interrelatedness of all communities and states. I cannot sit idly by in Atlanta and not be concerned about what happens in Birmingham. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. Never again can we afford to live with the narrow, provincial "outside agitator" idea. Anyone who lives inside the United States can never be considered an outsider anywhere within its bounds.You deplore the demonstrations taking place in Birmingham. But your statement, I am sorry to say, fails to express a similar concern for the conditions that brought about the demonstrations. I am sure that none of you would want to rest content with the superficial kind of social analysis that deals merely with effects and does not grapple with underlying causes. It is unfortunate that demonstrations are taking place in Birmingham, but it is even more unfortunate that the city's white power structure left the Negro community with no alternative.In any nonviolent campaign there are four basic steps: collec
