  • [Ep 50] The Princess Diaries (Part 2) [Ft. Maz Maio]
    Apr 25 2025

Get your pizza with M&M's ready, because it's time for the crew to continue their discussion on the chosen film from special guest Maz Maio, for a much loved Disney classic - The Princess Diaries!

    In this episode:

    • Daz highlights a very important detail missing in this film, and why Mia's father actually isn't dead in the books, but why Disney decided to kill him off in the film version.
    • Maz shares her thoughts on why one aspect of this film doesn't age well, particularly with the perception of Mia's pre-Princess look.
    • Lilli explains why she doesn't respect Helen's decision to divorce Mia's father, and why (under Helen's circumstances) it completely misses the point of what marriage means.

Also, with this being Popcorn Jabber's 50th episode, even if you haven't watched (or don't care) for The Princess Diaries, please at least listen to the first 2 minutes of this episode, where Daz, Oli & Lilli want to express their gratitude to you for helping them reach such a special milestone.

  • [Ep 49] The Princess Diaries (Part 1) [Ft. Maz Maio]
    Apr 18 2025

An episode about The Princess Diaries?! 😮 SHUT UP!

In this special episode, we are so excited to be joined by radio host, events manager, coffee lover & Port Adelaide supporter - Mary-Anne 'Maz' Maio! We are so grateful to have her on as she was one of the main reasons that this podcast was able to pop into existence! She was formerly the host of Life FM's evening show, The Takeover, in which Daz, Oli & Lilli were recruited, became best friends and were able to form Popcorn Jabber! She now hosts the drive show "Maz For The Drive Home" weekdays from 3-6pm ACST on Life FM.

Maz's chosen film for Popcorn Jabber is the 2001 family/romance film "The Princess Diaries". A childhood film favourite of hers, based on the book series by Meg Cabot.

But before the crew can experience royalty at its finest, they must go into another edition of What's Poppin! Where...

    • Daz is eager to discuss the cast reveal for Avengers: Doomsday
    • Lilli expresses her excitement for the newly released trailer for Tron: Ares
    • Oli highlights the trailer for the latest Star Wars series - Tales of the Underworld
    • Finally, Lilli saw the latest Snow White live adaption film and shares her thoughts on it. Is it really as terrible as the internet makes it out to be?

    • Tim confesses about a scene in this film that he would re-create in his own pool.
