Created in Wisdom: A Catholic Defense of a 6,000-Year-Old World
In this video, we present a philosophical and theological defense of the belief that the world is approximately 6,000 years old and was created instantaneously by God—not in six literal days, and certainly not over billions of years. Drawing from the teachings of St. Augustine and the classical Catholic tradition, this talk explains why the six-day structure in Genesis should be understood as a philosophical framework, not a chronological sequence, and why modern scientific dating methods—built on unprovable assumptions—fail to demonstratively refute the traditional view of creation.
We also address common questions about dinosaurs, radiometric dating, and the fossil record, showing how each can be reasonably understood within a Catholic worldview that respects both divine revelation and the limits of empirical science. This is not a defense of "young earth creationism" as popularly defined, but a return to a deeper, more coherent understanding of creation, rooted in wisdom and guided by the light of faith.
