How do you look at yourself?

What words do you use to describe yourself?

How does your view of yourself impact the ways you relate to others?

    Welcome to Living Vine Chronicles,

In today's episode, we consider the life of the "good thief" in light of Jesus' great gift of mercy to all who are willing to come to Him. Scriptural references include Luke 23:39-43, MT 20:1-16, Luke 5:31, 32, Romans 3:10-12.

    Questions for your reflection:

Are there people you think are undeserving of God's mercy?

What makes someone deserving of God's mercy?

Who determines to whom mercy is extended?

Thanks for taking time to listen. Bring a friend with you, and I'll see you on Monday.

  • Dayenu

    Welcome to Living Vine Chronicles,

As we approach the high holy days leading up to Passover, we will practice a version of the Jewish tradition known as Dayenu. I've provided some background information for your reflection:

    • Dayenu (דַּיֵּנוּ):
This Hebrew phrase, meaning "it would have been enough," is the title of a traditional song sung at the Passover Seder, a special meal commemorating the Israelites' liberation from slavery in Egypt.

    • Purpose of the Song:
The song expresses gratitude for God's blessings, including liberation from Egypt, the giving of the Torah, and the establishment of Shabbat, by acknowledging that even if God had only given one of these blessings, "it would have been enough".

    • Passover Seder:
The Dayenu song is sung during the telling of the story of the Exodus at the Passover Seder, which is a ritual meal that Jews observe on the first night or two nights of Passover.

    • Meaning of Dayenu:
According to Reboot, "Dayenu" means "it would have been enough" and the song thanks God for miracles performed during the Exodus, including taking the Jews out of Egypt, providing for them in 40 years of wilderness, and giving the Jewish people Shabbat and the Torah.

    Reflection:

You might consider writing your own Dayenu to give thanks to the Lord for all He has done in your life.

As always, thank you for listening. See you Monday.

    Peace be with you. Nicole
