  • Nicodemus (A Pharisee and respected religious leader in Israel) comes to Jesus under the cover of the night to talk to Jesus. He wanted to understand the secret to Jesus' power and teaching. Jesus makes the definitive statement that unless you are born of water and the Spirit you cannot enter the Kingdom of God. Nicodemus would understand that water is connected to repentance but he had no idea about being born of the Spirit.
