About this listen
In this episode of the TMO Podcast, we explore how Prince William County departments are collaborating to build a more proactive approach to property maintenance. The Department of Public Works identified a recurring challenge: too often, they became aware of maintenance needs—like mowing, trash removal, or addressing encampments—only after residents reported issues. They saw an opportunity to address these needs from the very start.
That’s where the TMO stepped in. Bringing together Public Works and key departments involved in property acquisition, the team is developing a new process to ensure that Public Works is notified as soon as the county acquires new parcels. The goal is to allow Public Works to plan early, integrate properties into maintenance schedules, and secure necessary resources before issues arise.
While the process is still being developed, this cross-departmental partnership demonstrates how Prince William County is continually seeking ways to enhance services for residents, reduce response times and strengthen internal operations.
Host Tony Turnage, Deputy Chief Transformation Officer, sits down with Lucas Hisghman, Deputy Director of Public Works, to discuss the collaborative effort, lessons learned so far,\ and what’s next for this ongoing improvement initiative.
