Polly's Bio : Polly Gitau is a renowned cybersecurity leader driven by a singular mission to shape a safer, more trustworthy digital world. Over the past decade, she has worked across both public and private sectors, partnering with governments, financial institutions, healthcare providers and technology vendors to strengthen compliance with global cybersecurity standards and foster a culture where every stakeholder shares responsibility for digital resilience. Today, Polly serves as Vice President of the Germany Chapter for the Global Council for Responsible AI, an organization committed to ensuring that artificial intelligence is developed, deployed, and governed in a manner that is ethical, responsible, secure, and aligned with global public interest.
Her career journey has taken her through high-impact roles in organizations such as CYRES Consulting Services, SAP, KPMG and Siemens AG. At CYRES, she tackled automotive cybersecurity by developing Cyber Security Management System gap-assessment tools and aligning OEMs and suppliers with ISO/SAE 21434, UN R 155, NIST and Auto-ISAC standards; at SAP she championed cybersecurity and data-privacy compliance activities, at KPMG she built resilience across more than fifteen East African institutions, mapping maturity to the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, drafting GDPR- and ISO 27001-aligned policies and contributing to Kenya’s Central Bank cybersecurity guidelines. Outside her day-to-day work, Polly gives back through leadership and mentorship, contributing to the Cloud Security Alliance AI Control Matrix working group, serving on the Automotive Security Research Group’s Vulnerability Management Committee and mentoring multiple cohorts of CyberGirls Fellows by CyberSafe Foundation. Her global impact has been recognized with top honors including Top Cybersecurity Woman of the World 2024, WISF Power 100 Honoree 2024, finalist in the Cybersecurity Woman of the Year Awards 2022, IFSEC Global’s One to Watch 2021 and finalist among Africa’s Top 50 Women in Cyber Security 2020.
