About this listen

Holy Heresy! is a podcast that looks for the questions found at the intersection of spirituality, justice, and the arts. The episodes come from the conversations that begin in our live services on Sunday mornings. Each week we explore the growing edges of theological thought, the exploration of the links between science and religion, the challenges of spiritual practice in 21st Century in Los Angeles, and most of all the joys of sharing community in the Creative Capital of the World. Holy Heresy! is brought to you by the First Congregational Church of Los Angeles. Learn more at holyheresy.com© 2023 Holy Heresy! Spirituality

  • Evolving God, Evolving World, Evolving Purpose 8: A New Heaven & A New Earth
    Nov 7 2022

Ironically enough, while religion dims and even disappears from the scene in many cases, it is the philosophy and psychology that hold out against the notion of giving up, of abandoning ourselves to the dregs of life. Of seeing it as useless. Of surrendering to its challenges, depressed by its losses and deluded by its fruitless promises of success, of wealth, of power, of whatever brings us to the brink.

The "Evolving God, Evolving World, Evolving Purpose" series explores deep questions of faith in a changing world, and how we can understand the nature of faith in the face of unsureness. The series takes influence from a trinity of sources: "An Evolving God, an Evolving Purpose, an Evolving World" by Joan Chittister, the artwork of Georgia O'Keeffe, & the Webb telescope.
