About this listen
What happens when numbing out stops working—and the path to emotional healing, self-love, and true belonging begins?
What You’ll Learn:
• How childhood trauma and adoption impacted Andrew's sense of identity and worthiness
• The emotional cost of numbing through addiction, alcohol, and drug abuse
• Turning points in recovery and the role of gratitude, service, and spiritual growth
• The process of forgiveness and building a purpose-driven, sober life
• Tools for men’s mental health, emotional intelligence, and personal responsibility
In this deeply moving episode of Inside Man with Gary Kadi, guest Andrew Schwartz opens up about his powerful journey from self-sabotage to resilience and recovery. Born into a world of emotional confusion as an adopted child, Andrew struggled early with identity, coping mechanisms, and a persistent inner critic that fueled his descent into addiction.
As a high performer masking his pain, Andrew lived with alcoholism, drug abuse, and a crushing sense of not being enough. But everything shifted when the weight of shame and guilt became too heavy to carry. Through a near-death experience, intervention from family, and finally entering rehab, Andrew began the hard work of inner healing.
This conversation unpacks the real impact of childhood trauma, the long road to forgiveness, and how service, running (The Speed Project), and deep love—particularly with his wife Molly—helped rebuild his life. Now living a sober, purpose-driven life, Andrew shares wisdom for anyone grappling with emotional pain, resilience, or the pursuit of belonging.
Whether you're navigating recovery, parenting, or seeking personal growth, this episode speaks to the power of transformation and the freedom in owning your story.

Meet Gary
Hi, I’m Gary Kadi. You’ve seen me in the business world, author, speaker, founder, high-performance advisor but what most people don’t know is that my greatest transformation didn’t come from building an empire.
It came from nearly losing everything that truly mattered. I built success the way many of us are taught, through relentless hustle, sacrifice and powering through. But along the way, I silently battled the “isms” – alcoholism, workaholism, perfectionism and I missed the moments that couldn’t be redone. I wasn’t present. I was either drinking, hungover or working to outrun my own discomfort. My wife was ready to give me my walking papers.
My son, diagnosed with autism and speech delays, was fading behind a wall I didn’t know how to break through. That was my fire but walking through it changed everything. I got sober and untangled my identity from my output and today, I’m proud to say my marriage is stronger than ever. My son is thriving he’s off his autism diagnosis, has a 3.8 GPA and is becoming one of the top young play-by-play broadcasters in the country.
From my lived experience, The Inside Man was born.
The Inside Man is not a theory. It’s not a tactic. It’s a path for men like you who’ve built it all and now realize they want something deeper. This isn’t about losing your edge.
It’s about aligning your fire with your soul. It’s about conscious leadership, peace that’s earned and living a life that actually feels like yours.
