About this listen

Anyone who’s experience a mental health challenge knows all too well how dark, and how lonely a journey it can be. But just like any journey, the road can take you to better places. And, along the way, you’ll hit the occasional bump in the road. John Mielke, The Milkman hosts a podcast recorded from inside a 28 foot RV as he travels to community events, and live on location broadcasts across Canada.

Keep listening for details on where we’re headed next. And, if we’re coming your way, I’d love to invite you into the BTRV for mental health!Bumps In The Road Hygiene & Healthy Living Psychology Psychology & Mental Health

  • I Was Really Trying Hard Not To Be Sick - Frank Papineau
    Jun 28 2025

Even if you don't fish you very likely saw Frank Papineau's fishing show on TV!

Frank felt like he was on top of the world with that show's success and with a number of successes following it.

But his world fell apart after a tick bite made him sick.

His business, his marriage, his health and more were impacted.

It was a motorcycle ride to the most northern regions of Canada that helped him put the pieces back into place.

We catch up with Frank as he gets set to launch his new podcast for men (which women should listen to as well) called Frank Papineau, Outside The Box.

  • A Fucking Avocado... Oriana & Rodney
    Nov 23 2023

Oriana and I met through real estate. She, is an amazing agent, I was hired to do her headshots. We instantly bonded on the topic of mental health.

Despite having worked several times with Oriana, I still hadn't had a chance to hear her story. Today, I finally got to hear a bit of it... And you do too! Affected since high school, she tried to end it all. She has pushed past the odds and today, speaks very openly about this disease, her opinions on medications, and why people going through similar challenges find her and trust her.

Rodney never realized that he had a mental health battle going on. But once he was diagnosed, so many things in his life suddenly made sense! From growing up in a small town where men don't talk about these things, to finding escapism through drugs and alcohol and how he realized he needed to do something drastic in order to save himself... Helped by the new love in his life, Oriana... And their mutual love of motorcycling.

Together they have pushed forward and, today, are spearheading a campaign in the hopes of raising even more awareness through branded clothing, and other items. www.inspiredbytrauma.ca

And, you'll also discover why Oriana isn't very happy with one doctor's recommendation that a lot of things could be solved with an avocado.
