  • Subway Series Recap, Evan Roberts does a Mets reaction video & podcast from Paris, and Al has no plans for his vacation in Montana (Hour 1)
    Jul 7 2025
Boomer & Gio are out this week so today it’s Jerry and Willie Colon. We started with the Subway Series and how the Mets threw out a bunch of no name pitchers to face Max Fried, and it almost worked. If Cody Bellingers doesn’t make that amazing catch and then doubles up Lindor at first. It saved the game for sure. Carlos Mendoza was tossed in the ninth yesterday because of the horrendous strike calls. Pete Alonso will not be doing the HR derby as he wants to enjoy the all star festivities. Juan Soto was not voted to the all star game and some see it as a snub. C-Lo is here for his first update of the day and we heard Dave Sims on the call for the Bellinger catch. The Yankees snapped a 6-game losing streak. Mendoza talked about getting tossed. Evan Roberts is in Paris for vacation and posted some videos about the Mets win on Friday. He also did a Rico Brogna podcast from France. Al is going to Montana next week and has nothing planned. Jerry said he came across professional pillow fighting. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about Aaron Boone and the Yankees as they’re going through this bad stretch (not counting the win yesterday). It does not seem like the Yankees are going to run away with the East.

  • Is the media too hard on players like Anthony Volpe? Sal yells at caller, and suggestions for Al's vacation (Hour 2)
    Jul 7 2025
A caller to Sal Licata blamed WFAN and the media for making it tough on players like Anthony Volpe to perform in NY, and how they play great in cities when they leave NY. We talked about the media being critical of players and Willie talked about his experience with the media when he was with the Jets and in Pittsburgh. C-Lo returns for an update and starts with the sounds of the Yankees beating the Mets, including another Aaron Judge HR. Cody Bellinger made a great play in left and doubled up Lindor at first. Volpe’s father was getting at it with fans in the stands who were getting on his son. We heard the audio of Sal vs the caller on criticizing players. In the final segment of the hour, a caller said there’s lots to do in Montana, and then proceeded to say you can drive to North and South Dakota from there.

  • Boomer & Gio Podcast (WHOLE SHOW)
    Jul 7 2025
Hour 1 - Boomer & Gio are out this week, so Jerry Recco and Willie Colon hosted, starting with the Subway Series, where the Mets nearly beat the Yanks if not for Cody Bellinger's incredible catch. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza was tossed arguing bad strike calls, and Pete Alonso is skipping the HR Derby. Juan Soto's All-Star snub was also a topic. C-Lo gave his first update, including Dave Sims' call of the Bellinger catch, as the Yankees snapped a six-game losing streak. Evan Roberts is vacationing in Paris, posting Mets win videos and a Rico Brogna podcast. Al is off to Montana with no plans, and Jerry discovered professional pillow fighting. The hour concluded by discussing Aaron Boone and the Yankees' struggles, suggesting they won't run away with the AL East. Hour 2 - A caller to Sal Licata blamed WFAN and the media for players struggling in New York, citing their success after leaving. Willie Colon shared his own experiences with media criticism during his time with the Jets and in Pittsburgh. C-Lo then delivered an update, highlighting the Yankees' win over the Mets, including another Aaron Judge home run and Cody Bellinger's impressive catch and double play. There was also a segment on Anthony Volpe's father confronting fans in the stands who were criticizing his son, with audio of Sal's exchange with the caller on player criticism. The hour concluded with a caller mentioning Montana's attractions, specifically that you can drive to North and South Dakota from there. Hour 3 - The show continued its discussion on player criticism, especially for high-salaried athletes, balancing expectations with the reality of performance. Upcoming Jets and Giants seasons, with Aaron Rodgers' Week 1 return to MetLife, were also reviewed. C-Lo delivered an update, but not before Jerry and a caller had a brief argument. Evan Roberts recorded a "Rico Brogna" podcast from Paris while scoring a game at the airport, and Pete Alonso will be in the All-Star game but not the HR Derby. The hour ended with Jerry introducing a guessing game about an X post and a conversation with the new intern. Hour 4 - The show covered Starling Marte's injury and the Mets' anticipated return of Sean Manaea and Kodai Senga, while Jerry noted a lack of buzz for the Subway Series. The Knicks still haven't held a press conference for new head coach Mike Brown. A humorous discussion ensued about social norms regarding public attire. C-Lo's final update focused on the Yankees' win over the Mets, featuring Cody Bellinger's excellent defense. Other topics included Keith Hernandez's recent success with a plunger, Joe Benigno's seemingly too-early 5 AM Saturday show, and "The Moment of The Day" highlighting Al's unplanned Montana trip. The segment concluded with Jerry feeling "fleeced."
