Welcome to episode 12 of Bede & Steve Vs. Camp Crystal Lake.

After the massive success of crossover film Freddy Vs. Jason, New Line Cinema wanted to make a follow-up that would see the two horror titans Jason Voorhees & Freddy Kruger go up against Ash Williams from The Evil Dead series. Unfortunatley due to circumstances, it wasn't meant to be. However, the studio teamed up the F13's original studio Paramont Pictures to produced a remake of the franchise along with joining forces with filmmaker Michael Bay and his production company Platinum Dunes to make it since they had success with other remakes of horror classics like the 2003 version The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The end result being the 2009 remake of Friday The 13th, which was directed by TCM '03 helmer Marcus Nispel and written by Damian Shannon & Mark Swift of FVJ fame.

Joining your hosts Bede Jermyn & Steven T. Boltz this remake of the franchise is writer/teacher Tyson Wils (you can his website ⁠here⁠). Highlights in this episode include TTyson discussing the first Friday The 13th film that he saw, Bede & Steve surprisingly agreeing on a F13 entry since Part II, how the film is more of a reboot than a remake, is Trent the most detestable character of the whole series, the whole "Jason is a pot farmer" controversy, how the film is linked to the Transformers film franchise and so much more.

Welcome to this bonus episode of Bede & Steve Vs. Camp Crystal Lake.

On the recent main 11th episode of the podcast, you hosts Bede Jermyn & Steven T. Boltz discussed and debated the merits of the Friday The 13th & A Nightmare On Elm Street 2003 crossover film Freddy Vs. Jason. Since that film has been in the works for 10 years, there was so different script that were written during that time before it was finally produced.

For this one, your hosts take a look at two of those scripts. However, they decided to take a unique apporach to them. Steve would pick one that he feels would have been better than the actually film, while Bede's pick would be one that would have been a lot worse than what we got. Those scripts being the 1995 draft from Peter Briggs (Hellboy '04) and the 1998 draft from Jonathan Aibel & Glenn Berger (the Kung Fu Panda series).
