About this listen
We have had some robust banter which stretched and challenged us both. And we wanted to share it with you, to show our creative process and the way we manage to get through disagreements. This week we discovered that coparenting in a blended family has nuances that neither of us expected. We uncovered the power of language and introduce some new terminology we are going to be intentionally using in an attempt to change the narrative. Join us for a deep dive into language and the online narrative, and why we think it needs to change!
OG Mum - OG is a term used to describe a biological family member who is original or 'OG' to the child, but is currently separated and/or part of a blended family. The term also recognises the families resilience and adaptability as they navigate the challenges of coparenting in a complex family structure.
Bonus Mum - Bonus family member is a term used to describe a non-OG family member. The term 'Bonus' recognises the unique and special bond that can develop between family members, regardless of their biological connection.
Jigsaw Baby - 'Jigsaw Baby' is a term used to describe a baby who unites the different sides of a blended family, like a jigsaw puzzle. It emphasises the important role that a new baby can play in creating a sense of togetherness and unity within a blended family.
