About this listen
Marcus Vassilakopoulos has played two games against the all-conquering Kangaroo tourists – and they were ten years apart!
The first was in 1994, when he played for Leeds as an 18-year-old, against the likes of Mal Meninga, Alfie Langer and Laurie Daley, in the days when Australia still played club sides whilst on tour.
The next was in Philadelphia in 2004, when, representing the USA, surrounded by amateurs and Gridiron converts, they were well ahead at half-time against an Australia side who’d just won the Tri-Nations in the UK and were coached by none other than Wayne Bennett!
It’s a very unique and intriguing story about what it’s like to play the World Champions in two very unique circumstances and when all odds are against you!
Each fortnight, join Lee Addison and John Davidson for analysis, news, interviews with guests, history lessons and lots more every fortnight to help whet your appetite for the 2025 series between England and Australia!
Lee is an Englishman who has coached at NRL clubs and lived in Australia a LONG time.
John is an Australian journalist based in the UK for many a year!
