The Samaritan woman goes and tells the people of Sychar to come and see the person that knew everything about her. They come and they believe that Jesus is the Christ the Saviour of the world. These people who were frowned upon received this revelation before anyone else!

In this sermon we look at statements 5-7 that Jesus makes to the Samaritan Woman. Within these verses Jesus makes it clear that true worship isn't based in any building but it is in "Spirit and Truth". He also shares about God the Father and so i want to elaborate on The Fathers role within the Trinity. Finally Jesus makes clear who He is to the Samaritan Woman. It is amazing that right through this conversation she tries to deflect and discourage Jesus from communicating with her but Jesus cares about the "Thirsty" individual as much as He does the "Thirsty"crowds. This week we start to look at the conversation between Jesus and the samaritan Woman. This week we look at the first 4 areas of conversation that Jesus brings up. She tried to deflect right through but Jesus persists. Religious rules say that Jesus should never speak to a Samaritan and never a Woman in public. Jesus defied that as he wants to help mend a broken woman who has been married 5 times and the person she is living with now is not married to her.

Statement 1/ He asked for water from her. She tried to dismiss Jesus by sayinng that Jesus should not speak to her. 2/ Jesus makes a 2 statements regarding himself and that He can give living water. She is skeptical 3/ He offers living water. She is flippant and mocking. 4/ He speaks about her past like an open book and she gives a half truth to try and Fob Jesus off. But Jesus cares too much. He wants to see her free from her guilt and failures.

Jews and Samaritans literally hated each other. We go through a brief history of why. Jews would never pass through the samaritan area despite it being so much shorter to do so to go from Judea in the South to Galilee in the North. Why did Jesus deliberately do this? Why did He speak to a woman in public when that was not acceptable at the time and a Samaritan woman at that?

He Wanted to teach his disciples that the person is more important than cultural or religious differences. Man looks at the outward appearance but God looks at the heart.

John The Baptist never desired the lime light. All he ever wanted to do was to point to the one coming after him... The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. (Jesus)

Nicodemus (A Pharisee and respected religious leader in Israel) comes to Jesus under the cover of the night to talk to Jesus. He wanted to understand the secret to Jesus' power and teaching. Jesus makes the definitive statement that unless you are born of water and the Spirit you cannot enter the Kingdom of God. Nicodemus would understand that water is connected to repentance but he had no idea about being born of the Spirit. We look at Jesus answer and other New Testament verses regarding this along with many other things that come up in this extraordinary conversation including the most famous verse in all of scripture.... John 3:16.

Peter and John went to pray at the temple at 3pm and saw a lame man who was hoping to receive money. He got more than he ever bargained for as he experienced the miracle power of God when Peter and John prayed in Jesus name. Hear the whole story and how this relates to us today.

It is easy to have faith when all is going well but it is a different story when you have nowhere to go but to God. Putting your faith in the Lord is trusting Him implicitly. Joshua is a great example when he gave a minority view against the whole nation but God honoured his stand.
