    Jul 6 2025
Today on The Ride we take a look at the history of the WNBA and the founding players who helped shape the league into what it is today. The league was founded i n 1996 and began play in 1997 as the women's professional basketball league in the United States. In this episode we will look at the growth of the league over the years with teams relocating and rebranding. We will also look at the challenges the league faced such as competition for viewership, financial hurdles, and establishing a strong fanbase. Also we take a look at some of the players that help laid the groundwork for the league such as:
    1. Sheryl Swoops: often called female "Michael Jordan." Swoops was one of the league's first stars, playing for the Houston Comets and winning 4 consecutive MVP awards and 4 championships
    2. Lisa Lesie: A dominant center who played for the L Sparks, Leslie was the first woman to dunk in a WNBA game and helped propel the leagues popularity.
    3. Tamika Catchings: Known for her defense and versatility, Catchings was a longtime star for the Indiana Fever, winning the MVP award in 2011 and multiple championships.
    4. Sue Bird: A key figure for the Seattle Storm, Bird has been a leader on and off the court, winning multiple championships and Olympic medals.
    5. Diana Taurasi: Often called the "White Mamba," Taurasi has been one of the league's most prolific scorers and a central figure of the Phoenix Mercury.
    1. Candace Parker: A versatile star who has played for the LA Sparks and Chicago Sky, Parker has been a dominant force and league MVP.
These players, among others helped establish credibility, inspire young athletes, and attract fans to the league. Their performance, leadership, and advocacy have been crucial in elevating the WNBA's profile. Can't overlook the impact and legacy Maya Moore left behind

  • Player spotlight w/Hudson Ferralez and Alan Justin Hannah
    Jun 7 2025
Today on the show we had to fight through technical difficulties to make it through the show but my guest Hudson Ferralez and Justin Alan Hannah were great. Hudson is an alum from Collegiate HS now playing for national championship Hutchison CC. Looking to get more reps as QB1 he knows the target that will be on his as well as the teams back as they get geared up for the upcoming season. Next guest was no stranger and by all means made a name for himself and is in pursuit of the 2028 Olympics. Alan Justin Hanna the same young man who antagonized opposing teams and fans because of his flair and swag and passion for the game has that same trait when it comes to track and namely the high jump. Alan now has his sights set on the 2028 Olympics as he is set to make a trip to Oregon. I want to take the time to promote an individual maybe two. first is my niece Jada. Check out her work on TikTok at Jadabraidedher and also on jada.braidedher on Instagram.
