Always aim to leave people and situations better than you found them.

This book truly surprised me—in a good way. I’d give it a solid 4 stars, only removing one star due to the audiobook experience. The narrator, who I believe was of East Indian descent, had a beautiful voice, but at times I found the accent a little challenging to follow, which meant I had to slow down my usual listening speed. There was also one full line in a different language—possibly Arabic or another language entirely—that wasn’t translated, which threw me off a bit. Probably an editing oversight.

That said, the story itself? Phenomenal.

The character development was spot on. The way it was written allowed you to clearly visualize scenes—it played out like a movie in my head. The antagonist? Stellar. And told from her point of view, which made the story feel even more dynamic and personal.

The main character is a young woman—not quite a coming-of-age story, but she’s at that pivotal point in life where things are supposed to start clicking: career, relationships, independence, maybe even family. She knows she’s cute and walks through life assuming everyone is into her—and honestly, she might be right. But what’s fascinating is how the story slowly reveals that she may actually be a bit spoiled and self-centered. Not in an overt, villainous way, but in that unconscious way that can still leave damage.

There's a pivotal event in the middle of the book—tragic and unexpected—that shakes everything up. I won't spoil it, but it was both shocking and thought-provoking. It left me asking: How much do our actions affect others? Could the main character have been the cause? Maybe not directly, but possibly a tipping point.

And that ending! Totally unexpected. It reminds you that we often don’t know what we don’t know… until it’s too late.

If I had one message to take away from this book, it would be: Be mindful of how you treat people. Everyone is carrying something, and your impact might be bigger than you think. Always aim to leave people and situations better than you found them.

Would I recommend this book? Absolutely. I might suggest picking up the physical copy if you're not used to certain accents in narration—but either way, it’s worth the read. Plus, reading it with a beautiful paper doll bookmark (wink) would be a fun way to experience it. I’m already looking into what else this author has

interested in story, couldn't understand accent

Slowed and listened to the same sentence on audiobook and still couldn't grasp what the narrator was saying
