About this listen

Since Merit was turned into a vampire and the protector of Chicago's Cadogan House, it's been a wild ride. She and Master vampire Ethan Sullivan have helped make Cadogan's vampires the strongest in North America, and forged ties with paranormal folk of all breeds and creeds, living or dead...or both. But now those alliances are about to be tested. A strange and twisted magic has ripped through the North American Central Pack, and Merit's closest friends are caught in the crosshairs. Gabriel Keene, the Pack Apex, looks to Merit and Ethan for help. But who - or what - could possibly be powerful enough to out-magic a shifter? Merit is about to go toe to toe, and cold steel to cold heart, to find out.

Good story and a great series

I really enjoyed this book. Even though the subject matter is "out there", it takes my mind off of the daily things in life that get boring. I think it's written well.

Great story - Narrator so-so

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Been a good series despite the narrator's lack of ability to have decent male voices.

Any additional comments?

Does good female voices. however her attempt at male voices is laughable.

Good

This one wasn't my favorite of the series and so I didn't enjoy this one as much. I'm not even sure why. Maybe it was the lack of trust between Ethan and Gabriel. Anyway, still a necessary part of the series.

Family ties

We find Merit trying to keep Ethan out of jail and staying at a shifter' home. During the shifter's annual party they are attacked by harpies then by elves. Merit is now on the path to locate missing sups. The story is great and Sophie Eastlake does another awesome job in the storytelling. ⚘⚘⚘

Really really good!

This is the best book in the series yet. The mystery was awesome! And how it unfolded was great! I liked how certain characters backstories is coming to light. Plus we get to meet even more new sups (non-humans), living in plain sight, it seems.
I also like how everyone’s relationships are progressing too. Especially Merit & Ethan’s. I love that she communicates with him & doesn’t hide things…well most things that is. It’s a sign of a good long lasting relationship to which they will have forever. ;D
As for the mystery part of the story, it was quite good. I liked all the intrigue & how Merit & her team works to solve the puzzle. It’s the best mystery story so far in the series, I think.
I will say that I wish there was more humor & perhaps some banter between the characters, though. I do appreciate all the tv, movie, video games references that Luc & Jeff mentions though.
This part of the main story was very well done & I enjoyed it thoroughly.
Now we get to see where Cadigan House goes next. So I’m off to the next book!
