About this listen

The zombie apocalypse didn't happen overnight. It happened over the course of several weeks. America was so wrapped up in what the media fed them that they were oblivious until it was too late.

When society's infrastructure started to crumble and the dead began rising to walk the planet, resources became scarce, causing strangers to become friends, neighbors to become family, and some of the closest people to become enemies. Communities fortified their defenses, against not only the threat of the undead but the greed and jealousy of the living.

When the Dead Rise follows several groups from the initial outbreak and beyond.

Okay zombie story a little slow in some areas not sure if I have enough interest for book two.

It was ok

I liked this story. there are good narratives and likable enough characters. this story was a little slow and more focused on ppl than on zombies. I do hope that any future books have more of an emphasis on zombies.

my main struggle was the narration.
the narrator's voice is very monotone. All the characters sounded the exact same. I hoped I'd get accustomed to the narration style as I continued throught the story. But no, the voice irked me from beginning to end.

story has potential

Good stuff, nothing ground-breaking but a good read nonetheless. Narration was good, solid overall performance. I will look for the second book

Solid story, looking forward to the second

Good enough listen. A little amateurish. Characters seem a little over portrayed, if that’s a way to describe it. But it an easy listen. The next in the series I’ll get when I’m out of books to listen too, but won’t be the first thing I get.

Very tame.

Just too bland. Plus I don’t like characters who don’t recognize what’s in front of them. Yes we’d all be in shock at first and yes some of us would be in denial but the nonchalant way the characters are behaving for most of the book makes for blah reading. I’m hoping the next book will have more action and the characters will get the reality of their new lives.

Um almost

Can’t wait to see where we go next! Really well told story and the characters are a fun bunch! Highly recommend!

Great story!

I love audiobooks and have logged thousands of hours. there is no inflection or tone, there are no characters just reading, and it doesn't seem like the narrator even read through the book once before recording. Pauses and awkward silence. There is no modulation or tone difference in characters, but it wouldn't matter as the performance is stiff. I'm not even halfway through the first chapter and can't go on.

Terrible Narration
