About this listen
Giselle Landry is in Las Vegas to haul her wayward brother back home. But casino owner Luke Dalton is also looking for her brother, who has run off with his little sister. The two should join forces, but Luke is unaware that Giselle's brother is also fleeing his duties as the future alpha of the Landry werewolf pack - which includes his Were bride. The Landrys don't believe in Weres mating with humans, and Giselle is no exception.
Though Luke is wealthy, gorgeous, and protective, Giselle can't let herself get close to him, even to solve their shared dilemma. But the tension wears away her resistance, and after a wild night with Luke, she is shocked to find she's fallen for him.But Luke still doesn't know Giselle's true identity. And once their siblings are found, Giselle must return to San Francisco. Can they overcome the odds - or will what happened in Vegas stay in Vegas?

My life was going just fine by most standards. I ran a successful business in a tight-knit magical community, and lived just blocks from a beautiful lake and series of hiking trails. Then Selene showed up. According to some magical code I inherit my aunt's ancient familiar; a grumpy ten-pound cat with a broken filter. She fancies herself something of a saber-toothed tiger, and claims to have wrestled the thread of her ninth life from the hands of the Fates themselves—although, I'm pretty sure that last part isn't true. Almost positive.

Lissianna has been spending her centuries pining for Mr. Right, not just a quick snack, and this sexy guy she finds in her bed looks like he might be a candidate. But there's another, more pressing issue: her tendency to faint at the sight of blood . . . an especially annoying quirk for a vampire. Of course it doesn't hurt that this man has a delicious-looking neck. What kind of cold-blooded vampire woman could resist a bite of that?

They need a plan, so they look to Mystic Bayou, a tiny town hidden in the swamp where humans and supernatural residents have been living in harmony for generations.

Just an innocent bet. Okay, well, maybe a bet to rob the three most virtuous girls in town of their purity isn't exactly innocent, but there's no way we could have known how it would all turn out. How much trouble it would bring. But what the hell were an Amish girl and her sisters doing in the middle of Bright Falls, anyway? I mean, it seemed almost too easy. She was a sheep and I was the wolf, and it was time for me to feast.

Not the best in this series
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Just about the whole story line...
What could Vicki Lewis Thompson have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Skip the chocolate scene... it came out corny and not enjoyable to listen to.
What aspect of Abby Craden’s performance would you have changed?
I like Abby Craden... have gotten used to her reading this series but somehow with this storyline it made her performance sound very dull and boring and hard to get thru.
Any additional comments?
I found this one very hard to complete. It took me about three times longer to get thru because I would get bored and not pick it up again. There are books that I have to listen to from beginning to end cringing when I have to stop and take a break. With this one I was cringing and needing to take breaks. That's a clear sign that this book was not for me.

Meh
I made it through the whole book in one sitting but couldn't help but eye roll throughout the day. Every character seems very one dimensional and lacking in common sense except maybe the prankster brother. What's wrong with finishing a degree you're 4 months away from? What's wrong with being protective? Why can't anyone just communicate? What's the point of this game? What would the sister have done if she didn't meet the brother? Is it so bad that an older brother wants his sister to do well in life? Why has it taken 20 something years to realize she loves this thing she's done all her life? Narrator was fine, just the story was meh.

The narrator does detract from the story though. She has a very languid form of delivery which can be distracting and irritating

least in series
I found this to be a little disappointing and not as good as the other books in the series. it took way too long for Luke to find out the truth which left way too much time for wheel spinning as the heroine got angsty about falling in love with a man she couldn't have. in most of the other books the truth came out sooner which left more interesting romantic conflicts to explore.

stupid
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
a story that made sense, the women who iis accidently changed is so moronic that it made my teeth ache
What could Vicki Lewis Thompson have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
make the heroine more beleivable
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Abby Craden?
no one
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
no not really
