About this listen
Marriage to an elf is complicated...especially bringing him home to meet the family.
Princess Elspeth of Escarland married the elf prince and achieved peace between the elves and her human people. But after a recent ambush by the trolls, it is clear the trolls are trying to start a war between the elves and humans once again. To keep their peoples at peace, Essie and Farrendel travel to meet Essie’s family and negotiate a stronger alliance.
Yet in Escarland, not everyone is happy with peace. Traitors lurk in both Escarland and Tarenhiel, and it will be up to Essie and Farrendel to flush them out. The consequences of failure might be more personal and deadly than they can imagine.

Story
The human kingdom of Escarland and the elven kingdom of Tarenhiel have existed in an uneasy peace after their last wars ended with both kings dead. As tensions rise once again, desperate diplomacy might be the only way to avert war. If only negotiations between elves and humans were that simple. When a diplomatic meeting goes horribly wrong, Essie, a human princess, finds herself married to the elf prince and warrior Laesornysh. Fitting in to the serene, quiet elf culture might be a little difficult for this talkative princess, but she’s determined to make it work.

The fae snatch humans as playthings to torment. The Primrose steals them back. Vowing that no other family would endure the same fear and pain she felt when her older sister was snatched by the fae, Brigid puts on an empty-headed façade while she rescues humans in the shadowy guise of the Primrose, hero to humans, bane to the fae. Her only regret is that she can’t tell the truth to Munch, the young man in the human realm who she’s trying very hard not to fall in love with.

Basil, a rather scholarly fae, works as an assistant librarian at the Great Library of the Court of Knowledge. Lonely and unwilling to join the yearly Midsummer Revel to find a mate, Basil takes the advice of his talking horse companion and decides to steal a human bride instead. But Basil never expected to find a human girl waiting for him, wanting to be snatched. Nor had he expected a girl like Meg, an illiterate farmgirl who has no use for books. Story
If there’s one thing Rosemarie, an aspiring enchantress with budding magical powers, has learned throughout her studies, it's that magic must only be used for good. But when an egocentric prince breaks her sister’s heart, Rosemarie’s only focus is revenge, and what better way to enact it than with a well-chosen curse? A simple incantation is all it takes to transform the arrogant prince's appearance to match the state of his heart. But something goes wrong, causing the spell to affect not only the prince but its caster as well.

Good read
I hated the way you made Elspeth talk fast and sound like a fourteen y.o. girl. she's suppose to be 21 .
I liked the story it got a little slow and repetitive in the middle.lm really hoping book III isn't all a repeat from the first two.

A great addition to the story
The narration was good and the story was compelling. I enjoyed the continuation of the love between the two characters and getting to see the family learn to love her husband as well. Credit worthy.

Love this series
I have come to love this series as a whole. I like that the author made the families devoted, loving, and caring to one another as opposed to other marriage alliance books where it seems more cold and calculating.
My cons: it was odd to me that her family, though protective and loving, married her off and sent her to another country with no maid, guards, or any people or protection from her country. Especially since, once she is home, all they do is ask her if she’s okay. You learn that she can shoot, so I would think they would have at least sent her off to her new home with a gun or something lol. Anyways, that part just bugged me for whatever reason.
I love that Essie’s family is more receptive and welcoming. It was a nice contrast to the elves. At times though, it felt weird. Like it was such a quick switch with the MCs brothers suddenly declaring love and brothership with her new elf hubby after all this initial doubt. I mean I know she asks them to get over themselves and accept him but still. Yeah, it was awkward. Not enough that I didn’t like the story but enough that while I was reading some scenes I was like hmmm... before moving on.
My Pros: I like the MC Essie way more in this book! She feels more grounded and less perfect. I also love her brothers, Edmund cracks me up. There was more action in this book, and the stakes were higher. The lead in to the next book was great!
Still love the narrator! But I hate the nephews voices hahaha. Could have done without those but again, preference. The British elves are still my favorite!
Overall, Worth the time in reading! This has become a series I enjoy playing in the background while at work. :)

Absorbing Romantic Fantasy
I enjoyed the second book in the "Elven Alliance" series a lot. Once the audiobook had started, I had to listen to it all, in order to find out what happened next. Farrendel traveled to Escarland to spend time with his wife's family. The story started out delightful and amusing. It evolved into a more complex and action filled tale as the Trolls' plans were put into effect. Liz Brand's narration was entertaining. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

My Goodness, I Need Book 3!!! I Love this Series!
Parents: PG13, very clean but geared towards the middle grade & young adult reader - adults will love it too
Language: none
Violence: moderate gore, fun fight scenes
Sexual content: kissing, desires for more but very sweet and no details are ever given
After the intense battle in book one where Essie nearly lost Farrendel, the couple now finds themselves on a trip to Essie's family/home. They need to discover who the traitors are that are trying to start a war between the elves and Escarland. This is so much fun to see Farrendel try to fit into Essie's world and gain her family's acceptance. It's only made better by getting to see this book through his eyes and hers, whereas the last book was just from Essie's perspective. These two characters are honestly the most adorable and sweet couple to watch, and not in an irritating way. The adventure started heating up in the end of book one and book two only gets better. I can't wait for book three and I'm hoping this series continues with many more books in the future!
The narrator does a fantastic job with Essie along with the other character's voices and her acting skills are great. She's really easy to listen to and one of the few narrators that I don't find the need to up the playback speed on.

Excellent, but difficult
4 1/2 stars. Excellent continuation of the story and broadening the scope of each of the main characters. I still love Essie and Farrendel but some of what he experiences is really difficult. Melantha is somewhat redeemed but still!!
However, there is definitely more violence at the end of this book and a cliffhanger ending. I give this one a solid 4 1/2 stars.
The audiobook was also very well narrated.
