Når man ønsker sig en hund, er det en god idé at vise sin far og mor, at man er verdens bedste dyrepasser. Derfor gør Villads fra Valby sig meget umage, da han skal passe en hamster, men som alle, der kender Villads ved, kommer der til at gå noget galt alligevel.
Villads har fået lov til at passe en hamster i en hel uge. Den hedder Topper og er lysebrun og pjusket og næsten lige så nuttet som en hundehvalp. Men kun næsten. For Topper sover det meste af dagen og larmer det meste af natten. Man kan ikke rigtigt gå tur med den, og den kommer heller ikke, når man kalder. Det havde ellers været smart, hvis den gjorde, for da han skal vise hamsteren til Frida, opdager Villads, at han har glemt noget meget vigtigt...
