About this listen
A prominent child advocate’s death is only the beginning…
When a prominent doctor and outspoken advocate for child abuse victims is murdered, trauma counselor and amateur sleuth Stacie Maroni can’t help but wonder if there’s more to the tragedy than meets the eye. At the same time, whispers of financial misappropriation in programs meant to aid victims have surfaced. Both the good doctor and the suspect agencies shared interest in child welfare - could the two be connected, or is it just a coincidence?
Stacie doesn’t believe in coincidence and neither does Detective O’Hare. As Stacie extends her support to the doctor’s fiancée, Megan, she uncovers hints that more is afoot than meets the eye. When anonymous threats escalate into real danger, Stacie realizes she’s stumbled onto something totally unexpected. With her own life on the line, and potentially, Megan’s, Stacie must untangle the truth before there are more victims.
This is the 11th book in the Stacie Maroni series, but can easily be listened to as a stand-alone mystery.

Awesome Cozy Mystery
I enjoyed this eleventh book as much as the others in the series. I have liked the characters featured in this series since the first book when they were introduced and that has not changed. I appreciated Stacie's intelligence and caring for others. I admired her interactions with her family, significant other, and friends. I was entertained by the complexity of the mystery and the unexpected twists and turns. I enjoyed the fast pace of the tale. I enjoyed Naomi Rose-Mock's narration as her performance was entertaining. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.

Wonderful engaging mystery!
This is the 11th book in the Stacie Maroni mystery series by Christa Nardi. A physician who is also an advocate for child abuse victims is murdered and Stacie is drawn into the case on several fronts. Her partner Det. Michael O’Hare is investigating, she is on the Board of the Foundation that gave funding the shelter where the murdered doctor volunteered, and an anonymous tip about financial improprieties was alleged about the charities the Foundation endowed. Stacie is so strong and independent and is an excellent counselor to the shelter victims and the doctor’s girlfriend. I love the relationships between Stacie, O’Hare and their friends, as well as the others at their workplaces, the FBI etc, and I especially love the crossover pop-in from Sheridan Hensley! The characters are so natural and relatable that reading a book is like catching up with old friends. I was happy that Stacie didn’t need a new car this time but only needed a new window! It’s easy to read this book as a stand-alone mystery or enjoy it as part of the ongoing series. The narration by Naomi Rose-Mock is absolutely outstanding. She creates unique voices for all the characters and her performance brings the characters and story to life.
