About this listen
Understanding ADHD in Women provides years of research that proves why medical professionals no longer believe that Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a condition only found in young, school-aged boys, as it was once believed. In fact, extensive research has proven that the inattentive form of ADHD, which the majority of women have, can be just as difficult, if not even more so, than the hyperactive/impulsive form, like the majority of men have. Multiple case studies clearly explain what ADHD can be like for women, its difficulties and strengths, and how to better manage your symptoms.
ADHD is not suddenly brought on in adulthood, but instead, many women are simply not diagnosed until adulthood; they either went undiagnosed or misdiagnosed in their earlier years - and this book explains exactly why, and also goes into the many other conditions that can closely resemble ADHD.
Understanding ADHD in Women is divided into 11 different main chapters, including:
- Hormones Affect ADHD During Different Stages of Life
- The Danger of Emotional Withdrawal
- Nine Ways ADHD May Put a Strain on Your Relationships
- Overwhelmed Mom Syndrome
- Adults with ADHD Face an Elevated Risk for These 34 Physical Health Conditions
- And Many Others!
You won't pause Understanding ADHD in Women until you have listened to the entire thing! With all of the information, tidbits of knowledge, case studies, and years of research, it will leave you thinking and pondering about it for days after.
You won't want to miss out on this book - so grab your copy today!

Story
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (Also known as ADHD) presents itself in three main symptoms: inattention and hyperactivity or impulsivity. Hyperactivity and impulsivity are closely related and oftentimes coexist with inattention. Women and girls with ADHD most often go undiagnosed for several reasons. This is due in part because women tend do have less obvious or less misbehaved characteristics than men do.

In 1994, Driven to Distraction sparked a revolution in our understanding of attention deficit disorder. Now a second revolution is under way in the approach to ADD, and the news is great. Drug therapies, our understanding of the role of diet and exercise, even the way we define the disorder, all are changing radically. And doctors are realizing that millions of adults suffer from this condition, though the vast majority of them remain undiagnosed and untreated.

Helpful for women with ADHD of all ages
This book did an excellent job of giving a broad overview of what ADHD looks like in adults, and then more specifically, in women. It then went into greater detail on why women struggle so much, why we often go undiagnosed or misdiagnosed, and the many different concerns we have that men just don’t. It’s a must read for anyone who was diagnosed with ADHD in their late teens or adulthood!

Voice for Novels-Not Education
I would like to offer a different rating for this book, but I cannot stand the reader’s voice. It does not match the content of the book and while I was able to slog through a few chapters, it killed my sanity. Listen to a preview of the book if you can before getting and if you are in my shoes, get the kindle or paperback instead. It is what I ought to have done.

I can’t listen to this
I listened to the introduction and started chapter one but had to stop. Why is the narrator whining constantly? Especially given the subject of the book, the narrator needs to have a stronger and more confident voice.

repeats herself 500 times in every chapter
horrible horrible reading she sounds like she's talking to a two-year-old and she repeats herself seriously like every other sentence is about how girls and women don't get diagnosed like boys and men. obviously we want to know the specifics about how ADHD presents in the female population not that the world is biased against the female population would definitely not recommend.
